To The Places You Will Be From...

I know, I know. Over a month without posting? How the hell do I expect to keep any sort of readership?

I celebrated a milestone (I guess?) birthday recently. I worked from home the day of because there was quite the blizzard going on and everyone advised me it was not safe for me to try driving on the highway during it. So, it was nice to work from home. Andrew then brought home Mr. Bones Pizza. Yes, they're back in business and more importantly to me, they offer vegan options! We had a low-key evening of pizza and TV or movie watching. That weekend, we had lunch with my family and bowling in the evening with 2 of my friends. It was all around a pleasant celebration! Nothing too over the top, but a hell of a lot of chocolate vegan cupcakes which were oh so good. Mom surprised me with cupcakes she had made and I had happened to order from Hello Cupcake.

I might have put a bit of weight on this month between all the sweets and pasta benders lately. Hahaha! I need to set myself back on track.

The new job! I'm really enjoying it. I like being the only girl. I like not having to give much care to my appearance because no one else puts much effort into their looks and I'm not looking to pick any of them up. I'm still struggling to learn everything I need to. Because they're still a small company, their training program needs a lot of improvement and I've made a few suggestions which in turn have been helping me to learn what I need to. I was sad to learn one of my co-workers is a homophobe, but I told him he's my project to convert and a few of the other guys have pointed out that his perspective is nonsense. Other than that, he's actually a pretty nice guy and was one of the most helpful people to me in the first week (and boosted my car the other day!). He was also the first person I played foosball against there. Oh yeah, we have foosball tables, video games, and remote helicopters that everyone is welcome to play with at any time they need a break. We also have a game challenge every Friday afternoon. The majority of them are young, cis, heteronormative guys so I'm slowly working away at them. There may have been a time when I would have flipped my shit over some things, but I'm just calmly addressing why certain things aren't okay to say, such as "that's gay". Addressing calmly is generally the better approach to most things you want corrected, right? Besides, as the company grows, shit like that would lead to bad instances so it's best to nip it in the bud now rather than have an employee down the road file a human rights complaint or something.

Ukulele lessons are going well. I've been practicing "Tallulah" by Allo Darlin', an actual ukulele song for a change! I have a list of songs I want to learn and it's always growing.
