Just over a week ago, I thought to myself that it would be fun to learn to play the acoustic guitar. I would then take rap and heavy metal songs and turn them into acoustic beauty, like so:

I pondered this concept and, let's face it, guitars are expensive. Then I thought of ukuleles and how funny THAT would be to do rap and heavy metal on. So, I procured myself a Kala Makala dolphin bridge ukulele this past Friday. I don't care for the dolphin bridge, but it's not that big of a deal. It's a cute light blue. I got it from
Gergs Music on Portage. The guy working there was nice and helpful. I've ordered Ukuleles for Dummies and that should be arriving in a couple of days.
The only instrument I ever learned how to play was the record when I was in grade one. This will be a great practice for me in patience because I have a terrible habit of giving up on things if I'm not immediately good at them. Everyone has to learn and with doing self-teaching through books and videos, I have to remember that it could take a little longer than if I had a teacher. I did some playing around on Friday to get used to holding it and such and last night I did about an hour of practice. Must practice everyday and be patient with myself.
I also ordered an Amsterdam travel guide for my trip in spring. I'm getting really excited! However, I'm also nervous and uncertain because I can't seem to decide if I want to go alone or with a friend. Said friend is being very patient and respectful of my indecisiveness. Andrew thinks I'll be happier going by myself. There are pros and cons to both. Obviously with going alone, I don't have to worry about someone else, what they want to do, if they'll have a problem with alone time, possibly hurting a friendship, etc. Basically, not answering to another person. On the other hand, it would be fun to have a friend there to share experiences with, have a sense of security, etc. GAH! Flight booking will probably happen next month or November at the latest so I really need to decide already. Oh, and to clear up any confusion, Andrew doesn't want to go, that's why he's not an option.
