Enjoy Yourself...

Andrew went to the lake with a friend of his for the long weekend. We both booked Friday off to have an extra long weekend - woo! So, I've been enjoying having the house to myself and the critters. We've just been doing a lot of relaxing and resting. On Friday night, it was very bizarre - I had some tea and found it bitter so I dumped it out. I was sitting on the couch watching TV and my mouth started watering immediately in that I'm-going-to-barf way. Now, I hate vomiting, I cry and everything. So I sat there swallowing, trying to convince myself that I wouldn't, but I ran to the bathroom and vomited right away. It was very strange and I felt fine right afterward. Weird! Yesterday evening, I went out with a friend to Boon Burger Cafe for dinner then we went to erotic bingo where I won a mini vibe. Woohoo!

I inexplicably woke up at 9 a.m. today even though I was up 'til about 2 last night. So, I'll probably do some cleaning today and nap this afternoon. Maybe I'll go for a bike ride since I need to build up my cardio if I want to do any bike commuting this year to/from work (which I do). I went for a 30 mins bike ride on Wednesday and felt totally fine and it was enjoyable. My work bike commute is approximately 37 kms/day or about 1 hour each way (2 hrs biking in a day is quite a workout). I followed that up with 30 mins of yoga and felt great. I'm getting more into my yoga practice again which is quite nice.

Poe (the cat) seems to have found himself in something sticky lately. He had a few matts stuck together on his back. While he doesn't mind being bathed, I couldn't be bothered so I just cut them out and did as much of a combover as possible. *lol* I'm considering giving him a lion cut, but I don't think he'd be good about sitting still for that. The dogs had their annual check-up last week and Mia somehow put on 6.5 lbs! O.O I knew she was getting fat because she eats anything and everything she finds whether it's edible or not, but I had no idea it was this bad. Really, she should be about 10 lbs lighter. The vet suggested switching her to vet brand weight loss food, but I'm not doing that if we don't have to. I used to work in a vet office; I know the food they recommend isn't high quality as there's a lot of filler and garbage-quality ingredients, and it's a scam since they have partnerships with those food companies. The food we give them now has high quality reviews online when it comes to dog food analysis. So, we're scaling back her food more, less or no more human food treats unless it's veggies, trying harder to ensure she's not eating random things and if need be she'll have to wear a muzzle when outside, and start working her out by taking her for long walks and/or putting her on the treadmill. I put her on the treadmill yesterday and she did well for being a chunky-bum.

I've been making more raw and semi-raw recipes as of late for both my benefit and Andrew's now that he's being more open-minded and is doing amazing on his weight loss journey. I'm very proud of him. Anyway, I haven't found too many raw entree recipes I'm keen on, but the ones I have we quite enjoy. Semi-raw spaghetti (steamed spaghetti squash with raw tomato sauce) from Eat Awesome is a big hit in our house. Raw desserts, however, are easy to find and super delicious. I made these raw turtles the other day with raw chocolate icing and they are amazing! They really do taste like caramel which is awesome.

14th book of 2012 completed. I realize I'm not going too fast on my reading. *lol* Anyway, it was Practical Demonkeeping by Christopher Moore.

Likelihood of me recommending this book to anyone (out of 5) - 3.5. As I've said before, I've been really enjoying Christopher Moore's books. However, this one fell a bit flat compared to the others I've read. It wasn't particularly funny. A character from the other books I've read made an appearance in this story which is humorous to fans of Moore's writings. If I were telling someone to read Moore's books, this one would be at the bottom of the list thus far.

books, bicycle, review, dogs, yoga, cat, vegan
