On Tuesday after work, I went and got my 23rd tattoo done. See, a few of us family members (on Mom's side) have been/are getting tattoos in support of my aunt who has brain cancer. We're not getting matching ones, but they have to have the awareness ribbon incorporated in it. Anyway, here's mine on my right inner bicep (same arm that has the Medusa) before washing off the blood and plasma *lol*...
Carnation (her fave flower) and ribbon.
Not the most comfort place to get tattooed, that's for sure. Glad it was pretty quick. Outlining was way more uncomfortable than shading/colouring. Oh, FYI, inner bicep tattoos swell and bruise like nobody's business. Here's some of the bruising a couple of days later...
Not too noticeable here, but yesterday it was in full blue-purple-yellow mode.
It's now approached the flaking and itching phase, but at least it doesn't feel too tender anymore.
Boss-man took me out for lunch yesterday for my birthday/departure since he is in trial next week. It was very nice. He had a lot of kind things to say about me (like that I've become more ambitious as of late and that I would be doing myself a disservice if I didn't continue to learn, etc) and it was all around very sweet to spend some time with him. Boss-lady joined us towards the end and then afterward we interviewed candidates to take my position. It was kind of surreal doing the interviews for a person who'll be taking the job I've had just shy of 6 years. I wasn't heartbroken though as I'm looking forward to starting my awesome new job in just over a week. :) Provided the references have good things to say, it looks like they may have been lucky enough to find my replacement already. She was very nice and I think she would fit in nicely.
Funny enough, a lawyer from another firm that I know (who is awesome and nice) called me yesterday morning to see if I would be interested in jumping ship to go work for him. I told him I was flattered, because I really was/am, but the answer is no because I've made a commitment to my new job, I'm looking forward to it, and I want out of the legal field. He was nice about it and said he understood. So, yeah, that was interesting.
OH! Books! First book completed of 2012 is Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs. This book is a collection of essays ranging from serial killers, how the author believes The Real World shaped pop culture, how people who don't like country music are pretentious assholes because lyrically country music speaks for the common people and thus has more merits than other music, Saved By The Bell, journalism, sports, religion, etc. Honestly, there were a few essays I skipped, such as ones about sports (or at least skipped the numerous paragraphs about them), the chapter dedicated to Saved By The Bell (barely even remember it as I never followed it), his attendance at some sort of rock journalist dork convention, and I skimmed through the country music chapter since I'm a "pretentious asshole" as well as The Real World chapter since I never watched that show. This book was a gift and thus I appreciate the thought that went into selecting it.
Likelihood of me recommending this book to anyone (out of 5) - 0...unless I know they like topics covered in it, then I'd go with maybe a 2.
