Hooray for a very productive weekend!
The stuff going to Goodwill is more than I initially anticipated which makes me quite happy. I thought we would have maybe 2 garbage bags or so. Well, so far we have 3 large orange garbage bags full of clothes and 1 regular garbage bag of shoes. Plus I'm hoping they'll take knick-knack things like fake flowers. Not too shabby at all! It'll be nice to not go through my clothes thinking, "I thought I got rid of that..." I'm going to do another quick sort through my clothes to see if there's anything else that can go. I got Andrew on board so he just has to go through his pants and then we'll be set for pick up.
Besides gathering up for Goodwill, I tidied up, did laundry, made liquid soap nuts, and worked on crafty things like a magnet bracelet and painting candle sconces . I decided yesterday that I want to gradually make a
scrap fabric quilt (though mine most likely will not be that organized). The idea will be to avoid buying fabric for it (except backing and batting) and instead rely solely on scrap fabric material we have lying around from clothes that have worn through, shirt modifications, scraps from other projects, and potentially scrap fabric donations from family and friends. Maybe I'll try to make 6"x6" squares so that it does look like there's some sort of rhyme and reason to it, hahaha. I'm excited to see if/how this turns out.
I've ordered some crafty supplies online for making those feather earrings I keep talking about. I've had no luck finding thin silver wire and bead cones that I want here in Winnipeg so I had to order online (it's a
company in BC so it shouldn't take long to arrive). I'm always so glad for online ordering when it seems impossible to find things locally.
Going back to making liquid soap nuts, if you're curious: You make it by boiling soap nuts with water. We use the liquid for laundry, first and foremost, and recently I've taken to using it as dishwasher detergent, cleaning up the counters, wiping Romeo down after he pees on his front legs *lol*, and I also put some in our steam cleaner. It basically becomes a safe universal cleaner.
I had a wonderful massage on Friday after work. I believe my insurance coverage is up for the year which utterly sucks. However, I think I'm going to have to go back for at least a 1/2 hr one again soon because it still hurts under my right shoulder blade where I usually have a huge, gnarly knot. She worked hard on my forearms so they're happy again for now. I'm going back to see her on Tuesday for a Reiki session. We were supposed to do that on Friday, but she had major car problems and I didn't get her message about cancelling. I was really happy that she still saw me anyway for the massage.
