Your Life Is Worth Much More Than Gold...

Last week, I was checking out Suzy Shier's website. On their opening page, it said "Take an additional 50% off lowest ticketed price, online and in store" and linked to their sale section. As a true Manitoban, I loves me some deals as I've said before. So I found a poncho top I liked marked at $13.99 so it should be 50% off that price based on what their site said. I clicked to check out and...no additional 50% off. This seemed odd and irked me so I e-mailed them pointing out what their opening page said and asked if there was a coupon code that needed to be applied. I noticed the day after I sent my e-mail the wording was removed from the site. Hmmm. I received an e-mail back saying...

Thank you for your email. The regular prices are indicated beside each sale price, indicating the 50% reduction. The sale price is what you will pay. Our main page window introduces the sale section by stating "Take an additional 50% off" because that is what is done to the price. When you click that image, it brings you to our sale section, all at 50% off.

We hope this helps but please contact us again if you have further inquiries.

Well, no, that doesn't help because you're wrong. I replied... (NOTE: the * are used as a means to emphasize words.)

Then the use of "Take an additional 50% off lowest ticketed price, online and in store" was grossly inaccurate. I noticed you have since removed that from the site, probably seeing the error. Since the sale price *was* listed at $13.99, and the opening page clearly said "50% off *LOWEST ticketed price*", then the 50% off would be from the $13.99. There is no mistake there when read. Suzy Shier did not exercise the English language accurately.

I figured I would probably hear nothing further and I was pretty much okay with that. Then much to my happy surprise, I received this e-mail today...

Hi Holly,

The marketing for this has been fixed as the wording was valid for our previous site. Since the upgrade, our sale section has been changed and rather having the sale price applying at checkout, the prices are already reduced as they appear in our sale section now. None the less, we will honor this error for you. Should any sale items be purchased from our sale section (this will be verified when reviewing your order), we will refund the difference to you as we cannot apply an additional 50% off already reduced merchandize. This is any other case would have not been authorized however without your assistance, this marketing error may have prolonged longer without notice.

We hope you accept and thank you. Simply email us the order number once submitted.

Yay me! I placed an order for the top I wanted in the first place and e-mailed them my order number so hopefully they do follow through on their end. If you notice mistakes like this, always contact the company. You never know what, if anything, could come of it.

And speaking of being cheapo, I ordered a pair of glasses from Clearly Contacts because they were giving away 100 free frames. So after shipping and lenses it only came out to $22-and change. Pretty sweet deal if you ask me. I've got a few pairs of glasses and contacts from them so I know they're an awesome, legit company. Their customer service is also amazing. Example, when I was trying to place my order, their website kept crashing because of everyone trying to get in on the deal. Fed up after 15 mins, I called them and explained what was happening. They put the order in for me without any trouble and already had my Rx on file anyway. Hooray!

I'm trying to cutback on my use of smiley faces. I really like to use smiley faces in chats, e-mails, blog posts, etc. I realize smiley faces may be annoying to people (just like I hate when people post lol or lmao at something that isn't funny or isn't really that funny) so I'm trying to wean off of 'em. *le sigh*

I hate Google's auto-complete when searching. Let me type in what I want to fucking search without trying to finish it for me!

review, money, fuck ups, products, shopping
