Ain't No Grave Can Hold My Body Down...

Alright! So I managed to get a Kobo yesterday (and on sale - woo!) as my Earth Day challenge reward for "not buying anything new" for the month. I almost failed when I saw a shirt I liked on sale. Instead, I went to Value Village and got 2 shirts for the same price that look super awesome and I intend to recon. The Kobo is very, very awesome. I am totally loving it thus far and at this time I can honestly say I would recommend it to people. Even Andrew was so-so on it until he looked at it. At first he was like, "I don't think it would be as comfortable as holding a book." I handed it to him right after he said that and he said, "Oh...it's actually more comfortable than holding a book because it's lighter and you don't have to fold it open." Exactly. The screen is clear and there's no backlight so it actually looks like a piece of paper behind a non-reflective screen. That's definitely something enjoyable as there's no eye strain. The convenience of carrying hundreds of books (it comes with 100 free classic books, most of which I've never read so I'm looking forward to checking them out) without the hassle of all the weight is fantastic. And since you can download .PDF files on it, I may start uploading editions of Metro news. Yesterday, I uploaded a couple editions of TOFU magazine. Oh, you can also check out books from the library with it. Super cool! I may have to finally get a library card. Yay, Kobo! :D

I think I'm going to have to make some changes to my exercise regime. I think I'm packing a bit on my hips (my jeans have felt a little tight though maybe it's because I washed them in warm water when normally they're in cold). Granted, this week has been a very heavy carb and sugar week for me. I also know that I'm not challenging myself very much, if at all, with my morning workouts anymore. In fact, I tend to get to the gym around 7:15 now and do 20 - 40 mins cardio, maybe 10 - 15 mins weights (if at all), and then 20 mins of yoga. I don't push myself as much as I could/used to. And, to be honest, as much as I like working out in the morning in that I get it done and can go straight home after work plus there are fewer people at the gym, I still end up feeling tired throughout the day as the week goes on. I thought that shit was supposed to stop after a month or so...I've been doing a.m. workouts since November. :| Another reason is that right now when I leave early for the gym, it's too cold to scoot. But when I'm done my workout, it's warm enough. So, I'm missing scooting time. I'm going to try going back to group exercise classes to be challenged again and see how that goes. Maybe after awhile, when I feel like I'm not packing on my hips, I'll go back to morning workouts on my own. And maybe a.m. workouts are best suited for winter, at least for me. I think this is the regime I'll go with (anything not specified a.m. means evening class right after work):

Monday - a.m. workout (either at the gym or yoga at home or walking/biking with the dogs) plus yoga after work
Tuesday - Body Attack class or RPM (aka cycling)
Wednesday - Body Pump (weights)
Thursday - a.m. workout or RPM
Friday - a.m. yoga or Body Pump

I think I'll start as of next week. I also should stop with the overload of carbs and sugar. ;)

So I'm not going to go ahead with my order from Grassroots. I thought there was free shipping if you spend $X because when I did the recalculate with my postal code, nothing came up. Not the case. Shipping is $15 - $30. Boo. I'll look for the natural cleaning products I wanted at local stores instead. I'm sure Vita Health probably carries the same products.

There was something else I wanted to post about...but now I can't remember. I hate when that happens. Work got us flowers for Administrative Professionals Week from The Friendly Florist in Osborne Village. Super beautiful flowers! My goodness. Lots of greener, big gerber daisies, roses, and flowers that I don't know the name of. The really neat thing was that they were delivered in "bubbles" instead of vases. Bubbles are thick plastic wrap that are filled with water and wrapped securely around the flowers. Neat, huh?
