People All Over The World, Join Hands...

On Friday, I got the results back from my naturopath about what food allergies I now have. None of these were noted as allergies when I was a kid. It's funny how these things change with age. Anyway, this is the list...

Foods that I'm "highly" allergic to:

*almonds
*peanuts
*sunflower seeds
*pineapple
*green beans
*kidney beans
*peas
*soy (this was a very high allergen, apparently)

Foods that I'm "somewhat" allergic to:

*lentils (gag - don't eat them so no loss)
*lima beans

So, as you can see, this sucks BALLS! This is cutting out quite a bit of my protein sources as a vegan, especially when it comes to soy and even peanuts (I loves me some peanut butter). It's a good thing I stopped wanting to put on muscle mass as this would now be impossible due to these food limitations and inability to take protein supplementation. Plus...I'm going to eat pineapple if I damn well want, hahaha. Anyway, what my naturopath wants me to do is to avoid eating these foods for 3 months, do a liver detox, and start taking probiotics to boost my gut bacteria. After 3 months, I can slowly start reintroducing foods one at a time and see if there's a reaction. If by day 3 of reintroducing soy, for example, I don't have a reaction, then I can reintegrate it into my diet but in moderation. If I do have a reaction, then it's a no go (or at least very rarely have it, depending on the reaction). If I have a reaction on the first day of reintroduction then it would probably be for the best to continue to avoid that food. I was glad to see coffee wasn't on the list like I thought it would be, hahahaha. However, no more lattes or fraps from Starbucks. :( I can get black coffee with vanilla syrup (provided it doesn't have soy lecithin in it like every-fucking-thing does) and add my own rice or hemp milk.

Rice milk, I'll have you know, is weird in colour. It's not exactly white; it's more like a cloudy clearish substance.

My naturopath pointed out that not only can my skin issues be attributed to allergic reactions (cutting down on soy intake did reduce my red, dry skin patches), but the fact that I seem tired so much more often than other people (despite exercising regularly in an attempt to bring up my energy) is likely as a result of food allergies. Neat, huh?

I'm starting my 3 month cleanse as of...TODAY! No bad foods today so let's see how it goes. :)

I had an awesome Vinyasa class at Yoga Pilates & More tonight. Team Buy had a deal of $35 for 10 classes so I definitely couldn't pass that up. I love yoga so much. It makes me so happy afterward, like post-coital euphoria.
