Get Your Motor Runnin'...

The photo shoot yesterday went really well and it was a lot of fun. I can't wait to see the results. I have another one tomorrow, one scheduled for next Saturday (weather permitting), and I'm meeting with another photographer on Wednesday evening.

My Dad came with me today to help me get my first vehicle...a scooter! His name is Starscream and I'm totally getting a Decepticon decal to go on the front. :D Specifically, it's this one: a 2006 Derbi Bullet from the Vespa dealership. It's practically brand new as the reason they had to sell it "used" was because of some minor scuffing when it came out of the box. Score! My first mini test drive at the dealership wasn't super awesome as I wasn't even on the proper sides of the road, hahaha! Then my second mini test drive went really well until I went to do a U-turn. I have to learn to do a sharp U-turn, that I can make it and it will be okay (I've had the same problem with my bicycle). Anyway, didn't turn sharply enough, bumped the curb, and the scooter fell over. No matter, I just picked it back up and got right back on. Dad has a lot of confidence in me and thinks this will be a great way for me to boost my confidence and maybe one day get back into driving a car. When we got home, I showed Andrew how to use it and he zipped off down the street, hahaha! I got on and took it to the end of the street, struggled with a U-turn (but didn't fall off or anything), and pulled it up to the garage to park. I felt a bit wobbly on it because it's so fucking windy outside today. Not really conducive weather for learning how to operate this kind of machine. Anyway, I also need to remember, remember, remember to use my mirrors and my turning lights. It's like riding a bicycle but with car aspects that I need brushing up on. So I'll continue to drive it around the side streets and stuff before I take it out on major roads (like Pembina Hwy) or drive it to work. I need to stop with the self-doubt, stop caring that people are watching (I really don't care what people think of me the majority of the time, why does it bother me so much if people are watching me do something?), and just fucking do it.

Super funny: On the way home, Dad had it loaded on the back of his truck. We were at a stop light and this really old guy is in a truck next to us checking out Starscream. He looked at me, I gave him a big smile and thumb's up...and he did it right back, hahahaha! That old man was awesome.

While Dad has loads of confidence in me, and even the dealership guy said I did super well for a first timer having zero experience riding a scooter, my sister is not being supportive at all. Her reply to my Facebook status update about Starscream: how long before you're in a major accident, not sure of this as you hate driving cars, and now you're in something smaller with less protection! Fucking thanks, bitch.

I'm totally getting sick. My throat is getting scratchy, sore, and swelling up a bit. Great fucking timing.
