Engaged!!!
It's official everyone! He surprised the heck out of me early this afternoon by popping the question. We were getting ready to get some lunch before heading down for dad's birthday and as I was walking out the door he looked real worried and asked me to come back in.
The ring is beautiful (if it'd come out of a cracker jack box it would have been beautiful to me) but it's beautiful. He picked it out all on his own and it fits perfectly on my finger.
I NEVER thought I'd be at this stage in my life at this age. Everything falls right into place the minute that you stop worrying about it. People always told me that when I met the one I'd know and I thought it was all poppycock. Then Richi came into my life and we've known from then on. We were actually talking today about how last Christmas he had seriously debated asking me but it had only been a few months. And I told him how I thought that was going to be my Christmas present. Then when he showed up with a small box I got real nervous.
Today however I just cried and hugged him. I could cry now just thinking about it. Taking the next steps into our future together. And I'm sure it isn't going to be easy but I have no doubts that we'll make it. We both make that choice each and every day to love each other, stand beside each other, and we both have excellent role models in our parents.
So here I sit tonight at work admiring my ring and thinking about the future wishing I was home with him but that's ok. We have the rest of our lives together.
