Here I am with homework hanging over my head, so it's time to write another entry! My meeting with Amy went very well. I was happy to hear she is doing well, even though she's so busy with work and school she seemed quite stressed out. We talked for a long time, and twice after that when we ran into each other again. I must admit it feels good to talk to her again. We can talk forever, something I can do with only a handful of people. She gave up poker a couple years ago. I was relieved to hear that because it was not healthy for her. She's an English major and yes, she works in my building.
Greg brought some Conn College fish over to my place Tuesday night for an old-fashioned ass-whooping at the poker table. We played that TV poker, $20 buy-in 5-way winner-take-all. I got KK vs Greg's 77 all-in. Flop had a 7 in it, but a king on the turn saved me and sent greg to the losers' lounge. Matt dispatched of Piper with his AA vs her AK all-in preflop, and we both widdled Dom down to the felt. The two of them left then, and Matt and I just chopped the winnings. The three sharks played some stud after that, and Greg won back his $20, mostly when he filled his straight to jack vs my pocket queens.
Yesterday I had a little birthday celebration with my dad, stepmom, Pete and Hauns. We got nice and drunk then went to the Cuckoo's Nest, where we got even drunker. Deb ordered a complex margarita which included Gran Marnier, but it really spoiled the flavor. I ordered the next pitcher, "the regular, plain-old house margarita, with house tequila". It was great. I sort-of remember stopping at Dunkin Donuts afterwards and eating a boston creme donut. I don't remember why. Pete and Hauns proceeded to take advantage of my insobriety at the poker table and I dumped $10 to them. WTG guys. No mercy!
Today I attended the Stats Department picnic at the Mansfield Hollow Dam. There is a nice park and tons of picnic tables. I tried to play some soccer but got winded after 10 minutes. Volleyball was more my speed. Everyone brought a dish so there was a very exotic spread of Indian and Chinese food as well as hamburgers hotdogs and chicken. I brought watermelon ;) All in all, it was pretty boring.
Now I'm working on some programming homework for Applied Stats. It's kind of fun. Also got my first paycheck in 3 years this week. I think I might get addicted to them again.
