-changing/ adding to my research interests to incorporate autism, and aphasias. My dad has been sending me a lot of articles on autism lately, and I'm in the midst of reading a book on the subject, and it's fascinating.
-just for kicks, drafting a lesson plan for a course roughly titled "Percptual Deviations and Cognitive Conditions". It would be a comparison and study on autism, aphasics, synesthetics, etc that would discuss changes to anatomical brain structure (whether from lesions, strokes, injury), physical and cognitive outcomes of said brain change, treatment (if valid), and synopsis of current research. I'd probably divide it by area somewhat... and it doesn't all have to be negative deficts... in the case of synesthesia for instance, we don't know the specifics about why it occurs- there are guesses- and it's rarely reported as a negative occurrence for those that experience it.
Edit: Cognitive Abnormalities: study and comparison of neurlogical conditions that alter percepion and language"
