“Despite the enormity of the tasks that lie ahead, I stand here as hopeful as ever.“

I can only describe today as unforgetable. I don't think you can forget seeing all these people from Tom Hanks to Jack Black, Bruce Springsteen to Beyonce, all itching to be a part of a celebration in honor of the man, almost president Obama who's shoulders we've weighted all our hopes on.

You can't forget and you can hardly understand it at the same time. This almost hodge podge of film and music elite were all here to honor Obama. But that is hardly what made it so special. Yeah Garth Brooks brought the house down singing Shout, and U2 singing Pride gave me chills.

But when it came down to it, it was all about the hordes of people that came from across the country. I never realized how much i took for granted having this magical place full of U.S. history so close and I think of it as a burden. Silly me, I've become a local, it cost me 3 dollars to get there and back today and then you have these people traveling in masses from Chicago and yonder to be a part of history.

I'm getting rambly because I'm so tired. I just really wanted to share my excitement, you can watch the event on HBO, or here: http://www.hbo.com/weareone/ if you watch it and feel even a small bit of pride, euphoria, and disbelief, then you can imagine what it was like to be part of today.

I'll be on the mall again on Tuesday for what I hope is an even more memorable day.
