Pink jasmine in my parents' back yard. We have two huge fences covered in it and it's just blooming now. Like I said in the instagram post, I wish I could send this to you in smell-o-vision. It smells so divine.
It makes me feel weird that it's already April! This year is going by too fast I think. Here's an update on what I've been up to.
JANUARY
Kristine and Miriam dancing in the streets on New Year's Eve.
My softball team's season ended with a disappointing record. :[
The sky turned these dreamy pastel colors for most of January and February.
I treated myself to a red velvet whoopie pie and my favorite kombucha.
I started drawing more than I had been.
The scan shows the colors better, but doesn't show as much detail somehow.
Nerded out and played Skyward Sword (I've been playing since November and only about halfway done currently. I like taking it slow.)
I took a trip to Windsor with James, Ben, Amy V, Justin, Amy K and Chris. We saw a rainbow the first day.
We went to a candy shop in Santa Rosa.
We visited the Russian River Brewing Company and got these little samples of their beers.
The arcade had this pinball machine.
We played a lot of Shithead.
Ben was the Shithead this time.
On our way back we visited Aubergine Vintage in Sebastopol. I bought a dress, a skirt, and a sweater.
Saw Joshua's band Big Drag play at Bottom of the Hill.
I was surprised one day by an email asking me to be a staff illustrator for
Rookie. If you haven't seen or heard of this, it's an online magazine for teen girls. The editor in chief is high school student, fashion blogger, and all around badass Tavi Gevinson of Style Rookie. I have followed her blog for a while and thought Rookie was such a cool project that I was pretty blown away to be invited to be part of it.
Kelly Abeln, a tumblr friend and artist whose work I love recommended me to them! I'm super proud to be a member of their staff of talented people.
FEBRUARY
This is the wall of the Geary Parkway Motel.
Played with watercolors at work.
I went to the De Anza Flea Market with my mom. Saw this nice book cover there.
I ended up buying two matching vintage paisley suitcases, a kitty ring, a vintage kitty card, and some little succulents.
I found these Sanrio stickers (in a Sanrio store bag) in my parents house. We had bought them in 1989 and never used them. :D
See if you can spot me, my dad, and my cat. Triple exposure from my Diana Mini En Rose.
This tree with buzzing with bees. (Film shot from my Diana Mini.)
(Film)
I was inspired by Rookie's February theme colors and dyed these doilies to decorate my apartment.
I bought this dress when we were in Sebastopol. It has little insects flying amongst the flowers.
James took me out to Cafe de la Presse on the weekend after Valentine's. And the next day I went to the Ferry Building for the first time and bought some macarons at Miette.
I bought myself some treats. I have to admit the Hello Kitty Hot Chocolate was not very good though.
I saw the Secret World of Arietty with Kristine. So beautiful!
Around this time I decided to stop drinking caffeine. I've had sleep problems all my life, and caffeine clearly wasn't helping with that or my anxiety. I haven't been perfect, I've had maybe 6 caffeinated drinks in the last month and a half, and I still have trouble sleeping, but it has helped a bit. I'm kind of a tea addict, and I especially love the taste of black tea. Luckily I was able to find a naturally decaffeinated Earl Grey made by Twinings, but I'm having chai withdrawals. If anyone knows of a company that makes decaffeinated chai, please let me know! I seem to remember Trader Joe's had it at one point, but I don't see it now.
Reorganized my closet a bit. I have a lot of clothes. 0__0
James' parents came for a visit and took us out to Costco. We bought a lot of Gatorade. James wanted me to take a picture of our fridge to show you what his life is like.
I did some illustrations for and finished coding and updating James' photography website.

Stayed home one day because I was feeling sick due to sleep deprivation. This is my dresser/bedside table with some of my treasures.
My first illustration for Rookie was posted on March 9th along with the article
Literally The Best Thing Ever: Deep Sea Creatures.
And this one came out on March 12th with the article
Choose Your Own Adventure.
We had a straight week of rain. This is the building across the street on a damp day.
My friend Amy had a solo show downtown. You can see the pieces and read about it in Juxtapoz
here! She's so talented and hard working and I'm so proud of her.
This was on the way to the after party.
Doodling at work.
On my way to work, Valencia & 16th St.
I went bowling with friends at Serra Bowl in Daily City. It's closing for good this month. Double exposure from my Diana Mini.
Right now I'm visiting my family in Campbell. Dusty was the first thing I saw when I got in!
P.S. You can find me on a more regular basis at
