The waiting game

The truck's windshield has needed to be replaced ever since this time last year, when a small crack expanded from a half inch little thing on the driver's side, spanning the distance from one side of the truck to the other. I've put it off for various reasons, but as I've been driving around in the cold, I can hear it clicking as it expands and contracts.

Being as how I have no desire whatsoever to suddenly find myself with a face full of broken auto glass while tooling along at 40 miles per hour, I decided to use my day off and the nice weather to have Safelite come out and replace the damn thing.

Not surprisingly, since I waited until yesterday to make the appointment, I'm at the bottom of the list for this morning's appointments. If experience has taught me anything, that means that the guy will show up sometime much later than the 8am-noon time frame given me. I suspect it'll be right around 12:30, after I've spent most of my morning trying to occupy my time with chores.

Thus far, I've cleaned the floors, reorganized my flier collection, dug out and measured the various screen prints needing frames, dusted, ran the dishwasher, and finished my book. I've also managed to listen to six CDs, in varying degrees of good. The new Stand Out Riot that showed up in the mail yesterday is one of the best ska-punk CDs I've ever heard. It's like the kids in the band went to their producer, played him "The Final Countdown" by Europe, and said "we want to sound that fucking big." Seriously - epic.
