Well, I braved the scrum of folks in front of Arensbergs this morning to get a good deal on shoes. I've been lacking in winter footwear lately, and have been foiled by cheap shoes that continually run a half size too small for my feet. Seriously - Timberlands, Rockports, Docs... all at or around five bucks, and perfectly broken in, and all just a bit too small.
Thus, I shouldered my way through the throng and emerged into a crowd of folks (even larger than the one that had been there five minutes prior) with a cheap-ass pair of rather pricey Rockports. They're waterproof, comfortable, and gracing my feet even as I type this.
And, as a bonus, the Docs I had up on eBay sold for $51, meaning that these shoes essentially cost me fifteen bucks. Yay, hot damn, etc. This will probably be the highlight of my day, as I still have class to get through (although we should be getting our papers back), an interview to conduct up at the studio (although it will be another thing to add to my reel), the Teenage Bottlerocket / Ergs! Under the Influence split to buy (although the songs are amazing), Tony's chorale performance to attend (although it will make me a good parent), and pictures of Dead Girls to get shot (although it will make me money and add to my portfolio).
Y'know, if it weren't for all the "although"s, my day'd be looking pretty crummy. As it is, however, I think I might will definitely end up exhausted, it will be an exhaustion of a thoroughly satisfied sort. That's pretty rare, and I'll be happy with what I've got.
