In the interest of being good consumers

We went to the grocery store and bought the usual staple stuff. Afterwards, we checked out the Casbah Market and purchased some pricey (although in theory delicious) pasta. Of course, it being their opening day, things were not without problems - i.e., they had no produce and the cash register wasn't adding in tax. Still, nice place, and I will definitely be using it to solve last-minute food issues such as a gallon of milk, soy milk for coffee at the bakery, and the "shit, I need to eat lunch / yay for frozen burritos of a semi-healthy nature" predicaments that arise between work and office hours on Monday.

Since all the coffee places I like were closed or staffed by hungover people who would fuck up my coffee, I went to Starbucks. My latte was yummy, and this sparked yet another discussion regarding Punching In, a book that the_lucky_nun and I just read, and we talked about the idea of chains and comfort zones and what-have-you.

We started off at Love Garden. They're open until 5pm today, and if you say "frozen zombies," they'll knock 12% off your purchase. Not a bad deal, as it works out to about a buck off a used disc or two off a new one.

Since we got home, I've been poking around the house, doing various tasks that don't really need to be done, but make life easier - ripping cds, burning movies off the hard drive, rearranging the bookshelves, starting dinner, etc. I got a bunch of cds for the station (Flying Burrito Bros, the Band, Warren Smith, My Bloody Valentine), and those all need reviews... thankfully, I've got time. Lazy afternoons are fucking tops.

music, chores, errands, randomness
