I apologize in advance, but my entry will be rather random. My opinions of the book thus far:
Okay, Ron and the Weasley twins are officially my favorite literary characters ever. I want more of them. ;_; Poor George's ear, but oh man, he should have gotten it hexed off ages ago. The twins' puns and jokes are so hysterical! "'ear 'ear!" *DIES*
HEDWIG!! *tear* Whyyyy?! That seemed so senseless. *cries* I was actually thinking about Hedwig dying before I read that chapter. I thought "I wonder why Hedwig hasn't been threatened. JKR always goes for the least expected deaths", and lo and behold it happened. Poor Hedwig. All she wanted to do was fly. :( I'm not as disappointed or surprised about Moody biting it, but I was so scared that Hagrid was going to die. I have prepared myself to read him die protecting Harry, but I wasn't prepared for him to so early in the book. Luckily, he didn't. Yay. (So far... aah!)
Kreacher is officially cool in my book. XD I love how he practically turns into Martha Stewart after he starts getting along with Harry. I wonder what happened to Dobby and if we'll ever see him again?
Rita Skeeter is a total cow bag with no concept of the words "integrity" and "ethics". She will do anything to remain in the limelight and advance her deplorable career.
Poor Merlin's bottom half has a rough reputation in the wizarding world. I love how Ron, when confronted to clean his room, swears on the saggy left-- and Hermione exclaims "Merlin's pants!" at the mention of Snape as Headmaster.
LUPIN!! WTH?! Poor Tonks. I feel so sorry for her. :( Something tells me there is going to be some kind of showdown, and I'm sort of thinking Lupin might die too. Tonks deserves better, even if I can empathize that Lupin wouldn't want to put his family in danger since he's a werewolf.
Okay, I can't wait to see what use those artifacts Dumbledore left Harry, Ron, and Hermione actually have.
I feel sorry for Draco; he's turned into Voldemort's little bitch. It's like the bad guy version of the relationship between Harry and Dumbledore.
I love how the wizarding world has its own prejudices, slang, culture, civil rights issues, etc... I especially love that it's such a big part in this book. I mean, wth with the Registration Commission?! Jerks.
I'm sure I still have a lot more things to say, but it's getting late and I should go to bed.
