In my favourite magazine, Suomen Kuvalehti, there was an article about beautiful words in different languages. Apparently, in other countries people have voted for the prettiest words. In Swedish they've been hamna and sommarvind, in France and Spain amour/amor, and in English mother. Mother? WTF? That's not at all pretty, not to my ear. Er sound, eww.

Then they asked people to send in their word suggestions and then some judges will choose the prettiest one in Finnish. They also had asked some famous(?) people to give their suggestions, and, well below there's a poll about them. Vote which word seems prettiest to your ear!

To me, none of the above. They're just pretty, but only averagely. Years ago someone said their favourite word is hääyöaie (wedding night intention) because it's almost only vocals and has such a cute meaning :D But I don't have any suggestions... I try to come up with something and think it's pretty but choosing is so difficult. Haave, uni, lumi, tyttö, silkkimatto, marjaisa, laaja...

Today I had my first lecture of Financing. It's held in English, and it's strange how much more difficult it's to write notes, because you've to be quick but the words don't come to you as easily, and you've to think about spelling, and you have to struggle more with understanding than with Finnish. But it's still fun.
