Oct 21, 2005 - Francisco "Captain Jack" Gutierrez dead at 43
We were informed this morning that well-known Bemani and Dancemania artist Captain Jack has passed away due to a stroke and accompanying coma. Captain Jack was originally diagnosed with a stroke in 2002, but refused to change his lifestyle to reduce the impact of his condition and lessen the chance of a future stroke. He collapsed on Monday at a party in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, and was pronounced dead today. Captain Jack is survived by his ex-wife Daniela Schaefer and his son Francisco.
;_______________; party on, CJ.. party on.
Thank you for getting me into DDR, and keeping me there for all that time. I wouldn't know almost all of the people I know today if you hadn't indirectly influenced me to play it with that catchy, upbeat, addicting music of yours. It seems like just yesterday that I was playing Only You on 4th mix and unable to read those crazy bunched up arrows. In The Navy made me appreciate gallops, and Captain Jack was one of the best 9-footers ever. It still is. I learned Only You from watching Justin play it every single set back on 4th mix when I was just starting out, all those years ago. Little Boy always was and always will be a song that kills my stamina, but it's still a great one. My Generation was one of my favorite 5th mix songs. I remember playing The Race almost every other set back on 4th mix, too. Dancing Pompokolin is one of my favorite songs from any Bemani game, ever. It's just so good. I'm sure I'm forgetting some awesome songs of yours, but rest assured, I've enjoyed every single one that I've heard.
I'll see you around. Thank you.
