So, I went to the dump the other day, and someone was dropping off a Raleigh Super Record bike. I have a Raleigh Record 12speed that I've been working on, and this is a sweet find for free. I decided to build a fixed gear since this bike would be a bit of a duplicate for me as a 12speed, and the components were slathered in grease, grime and dirt that would take years to clean (I may do this to use some for the other Raleigh). I've never had a fixed gear, not sure I'll like it being that I have hills near where I live. I dropped about $200 for a new wheelset and components -- so I'm a little invested. Anyhow, I've spent all weekend disassembling and now building back up this bike. It's coming out sweet! I just have to put the chain on, and I'm done. I bought a brakes kit, but I may not even put brakes on due to it being a fixed gear (don't pedal, don't move). So, we'll see. The chain was driving me batty because I lost the masterlink, so I have to go down to the garage and put it on with a chain tool in a minute. Then test ride! Yeaaaah. I'm excited.
