RIP Andy Whitfield.
Okay, so I started watching Spartacus: Blood and Sand last year after Something Awful shit its collective pants at the season finale, and since it was on Netflix... I followed their advice, stuck it out past the first three or so episodes, and yeah, I was hooked. I don't remember if I said here or on Twitter or just out loud that I can't think of the last time I saw a show go from complete crap to awesome so quickly.
Anyway, despite me joking that Spartacus the character was kind of an idiot, Andy Whitfield was great in the role, and once I got the DVDs and saw the behind the scenes stuff and how hilarious he was in those and in the commentaries, I got to liking the guy. Right after I finished watching, I think, was when they announced that his cancer had come back and they were doing Gods of the Arena to give him time to recover. Unfortunate, but hey. And then a few months ago, his role was recast and I was grouchy about it, but hey, dude needs to recover.
So. Now he's gone.
Yeah.
