This came from an exchange in the comments on bookshop's post about women in HP that I'm sort of elaborating on. Rowling has said, looking at the series that it is "a litany of bad fathers" because that's where she thinks "evil" tends to "flourish"--where people didn't get "good fathering."

Yes, of course I have to get my two cents in! I joined in on this discussion about why people don't like Hagrid, and vulgarweed brought up an interesting point that I responded to there, but here I am saying it here as well. It has to do with Hagrid as a type in children's literature, and I think it brings up something about the types in HP ( in general. )

I dreamed last night I went to Bristol. And I was staying with the Stantons (as in Will's family from TDiR).
