Go ask Alice, I think she'll know.

Ok I just saw the first teaser trailer for the burton alice in wonderland film coming out march of next year, and holy crap it was so awesome looking!
It' like alice movie I always wanted to see and never could. and I've seen ALOT of alice movies over the years cause I love love Alice in Wonderland. I am still so amazed this movie is even happening. I mean my God, Johnny Depp? Burton? ALICE IN WONDERLAND? It's like 3 of my most favorite things ever, in one place and helena bonham carter is in it too! PLEASE TELL ME SHE IS THE QUEEN OF HEARTS SHE WOULD OWN THAT ROLE SO HARD. I'm surprised it took Burton this long to do this because Alice is gothic horror and that's been burton's niche since the 1980's. Perhaps he was waiting for the right moment?
Minor nitpicks though, I am not crazy about all the CGI I am seeing lately, not necessarily just in this movie but in general. I think CGI is great and it's amazing we have it now to make our fantasy epics that much more vibrant and epic but honestly I feel like studios rely WAY to heavily on CGI lately and the result for me is that it feels MORE fake and unreal and not less. I mean I seriously the weirdly coordinated large size muppets from jim henson's workshop that you found in movies like the dark crystal and labyrinth. They just felt more alive and tangible somehow. I felt the same when I looked at the trailer for Where the Wild things Are. WHICH I AM DEF GOING TO SEE. But like I kept thinking to myself "Those arent ALL computer generated are they?" Cause that is kind of a depressing thought when you think about how all the things that are on the screen in front of you arent really there and are an illusion. True the characters are fictional no matter what but you can make them somewhat more real when you put actors in costumes or build things instead of using computer graphics ALL THE TIME. It's just lazy IMO. Use the CGI for the shit you cant do any other way. That's what I say. That being said I believe Burton's intention is to blend animation with live action in this adaptation so that would make what I'm saying kind of irrelevant to the film.

On that note I want to talk about My favorite Alice in Wonderland movie of ALL TIME (at least until I see burton's adaptation). Jonathan Miller's Alice in Wonderland. It was actually a weird conceptual play originally. It was filmed in 1966, and directed by Jonathan Miller who I am told is/was famous in UK theatre but I have no idea if that's true cause I didnt know he or this film existed until 4-5 years ago when I watched this in I cant remember if it was English or Creative Writing class, possibly the latter.
The film itself is entirely in black & white, the music is dead simple but very creepy, and the costumes are all right out of victorian era england and in fact does a good job of capturing victorian era mannerisms and boredom. As it was originally a stage production and done in mid 60's, the film's effects among other things are very sparse and yet it is SO effective and beautiful. There are no rabbits or talking turtles or caterpillers in this film. The directer said alot of people forget that Alice was dreaming when she went to wonderland, so he wanted it to be filmed and set up in such a way as to really mimic a dream. As in how people actually view things in a dream world and that's exactly what the result is. A film that feels like a dream. This probably the closest of every alice adaptation I've ever seen to actually resembling a dream. This Alice film really focuses on the darkness, the beauty and the true twisted ness at the core of the original story, as it is gothic horror afterall. The dream like scenery and the madness of wonderland, this stark sense of the absurd and the bizarre, is so strong in this film and it really brings wonderland to life IMO far better than any other adaptation even though the cast is made up entirely of humans and the effects are near to non existent. As a book adaptation it's rather avante garde actually and radical. But as a film that's inspired by alice it really couldnt be anymore perfect. and I would even dare say it better captures the essence of the Alice books than any other adaptation has.

Here is a clip of on YT from the film to give everyone an idea of what I'm going on about here.

it's not the most surreal scene in the film or the best scene but it gives a good idea of the tone.

Tv: Supersizers in Ancient rome! This episode was so so epic and OMG Sue as BOUDICEA! I feel like this moment was a long time coming since poor sue has had to suffer alot of indignities playing wife throughout this series, often stuck at home or doing domestics while Giles gets to have all the fun! Though she's definitely got to do some cool stuff herself this is definitely the crowning moment of awesome! and I'm glad Sue got to do it and that we got a little bit of ancient british history in this episode that was about Rome. Interesting how what they ate and lived in ancient rome was actually loads healthier than how alot of people would eat or live today. something to think about!
Actually I was reminded of how much I love ancient history. lately thanks to romance historicals I'd moved down to later centuries (15th century-20th century) even though most of my history love was usually directed to the ancient civilizations of the world and that is because SO MUCH crazy shit happened during those times. It was gah, I'm afraid if I go on I will start raving like my crazy history professor who never could shut up about how awesome the romans were.

Leverage 03: Great episode! It's so great how they are changing it up this season and messing with the core formula, in the last episode the team got caught out and in this one they go about securing the mark in a much different and IMO more hilarious way than usual.
Things I loved: The return of Hardison/Eliot! I always love their team ups best cause it often involves alot of bickering. <3 Seeing sophie drop the sexy act for an episode and do another kind of character was really awesome. Parker using the moves Eliot taught her in the previous ep to punch out the mark. Eliot reaching out to that poor abused child and I confess I got a bit of sadistic joy at him threatening the dad. Speaking of Sadistic, I REALLY enjoyed the suffering the leverage team put the mark through, it was possibly a convoluted way to go about getting him to give up the money but personally I think it worked out well and also made him suffer immensely for the suffering his greed put that sick woman through, as well as getting him more jail time. Also I wasnt the only sadistic person apparently....

Parker: is it just me, or has Nate become more sadistic since he stopped drinking?
Sophie: is it just me or does that make him even more attractive?
Me: YES SOPHIE IT'S JUST YOU. But I definitely makes him more AWESOME.

I am also willing to bet that this is Nate's actual personality, and the writers or rather Rogers one of the writers, hinted strongly that sober nate, the real Nate is probably darker more twisted person than any of us could really imagine. So my guess is yeah, he's a little bit or alot sadistic. But so long as he's getting out his God complex issues on the assholes of the world, where's the bad I say? I'm really looking forward to more Sober!Nate, cause he is awesome on levels as of yet un reached by other mere mortals. And also kind of scary.

I will wrap up my post with this: http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii243/n1oora/19897467.jpg There should be a law against two people looking that gorgeous and perfect together, really. *jumping up and down with excitement for GG S3*
