So without further ado, below the cut you will find photos of the new tat.
This is a good overall shot of the tattoo. Our lighting's not so good, so it's a bit blurry, but it gives a good scope of the size of the tattoo
This is a photo that was photoshopped a bit to try to remove some glare from the head. We were having lighting issues and couldn't get a good shot of the color of it without having the head washed out from glare. So when you see this photo, ignore the blurry bits around the head, it's leftover from the photoshop attempt. This one gives you a good scope of how bright and bold it is.
This one is not photoshopped, but had a similar issue with lighting and washing out. But, you can see the tat pretty well, even if the camera-phone was refusing to take good stills.
So, the tattoo is a bit different than I originally imagined it. I had imagined all reds and oranges, very little black in there at all. But seeing the turquoise in there and the contrast it made... just wow, it worked so well. And the black gave a lot of definition to each feather of the bird.
It's based on a design by Chris Garver, but with the wings and colors modified to fit me better. The tattoo was done by Morgwn Pennypacker, and took about three hours from start to finish. The photos don't give the smoke around the phoenix justice - it's gorgeous, with a smoke-outlined moon up behind the phoenix's head. We'll get better pictures of it during the daytime, I'm sure, but I wanted to post the photos now so you can get a good idea of it.
