Yesterday was good. Had my driving lesson in the morning. Things progress on that front. I’m now mainly forgetting to do the little things. If I can break these habits (like forgetting to indicate as I approach a set of lights), I’m confident that I should pass.
In the afternoon, I caught up with Will L. I introduced him to my D&D minis (he was suitably impressed -- I may be responsible for another of his collectible addictions), then we had dinner at a pizzeria on Glebe Point Road. We had a very nice meaty thing, with added anchovies, which rock.
Then we went to the Excelsior for trivia with JD and his gang. I haven’t seen that lot in years, so it was great to catch up with them. Hopefully I’ll be able to attend more often. With a car, I certainly would.
Speaking of cars, I went to Mosman this morning to look at a car that
divaflip’s mother suggest I investigate.
1987 Mazda 121 “Fun Top”
3-door hatch, with large sunroof
66000 kms
fully serviced
the pros:
- small car; 1.3 L engine makes it cheap to run
- the age makes it cheap to insure
- one owner, with a detailed service log
the cons:
- the car is 19 years old
- the small engine means it won’t be awesome on the open road (and I could be using the M2 relatively frequently)
- no aircon or power steering (!)
I was impressed: the car was not showing its age at all. The passenger seats are barely used, the body is entirely intact, and it’s just been given a full service, and the price includes 12 month rego and CTP (it’s due for renewal very soon).
The asking price: $3500
What I’m getting it for: $3200
A bit steep for the car’s age (
drive.com.au values it at $2200-$2750), but I figure that the condition warrants it. And the money I save can go towards other fun things.
Anyway, I didn’t get enough sleep last night, so I’m going to do something only feasible while on holiday: have a nap :D
