Ok. So. The Snow Patrol concert. ZOMG! Uh-MAZING! Of all the bands I have seen live, I think Snow Patrol has been the best (with the Killers coming in 2nd). And I absolutely LOVE Stubb's as a venue. Best place ever. Anyway, the show.
My sister came up to Austin to go to the show with me, as did Chevon, Norma, Norma's sister Lydia, Jen's sister Sharon and Sarah's brother Ben. Then Sarah, Jen, Catrina, and I. So 9 people total. Yeah. Mostly a family-affair sort of thing. Haha. We got to Stubb's at 4:30ish, doors didn't open until 7, so we hung out in line for awhile. There were 8 people in front of us. (FYI: Stubb's is a general admission venue, standing room only). So we were set for getting spots right in front of the grail (about 2 1/2 feet from the stage). And huzzah! We did end up right against the grail (well, I did, then Chevon somehow got pushed to the front as well).
The show opened with the Silversun Pickups. I'd heard them on AOL radio a few times and thought, "Meh. They're ok." Pfft. They are AWESOME! I have this thing about bands that I have to see them live to really justify whether or not I like them. Silversun Pickups earned their love. Haha They were great! Their bassist is a girl who looks a bit like Maggie Gyllenhaal. It's was crazy!
Then Ok Go! hit the stage. I like them because their music is catchy. Great for dancing and being nerdy :) They, too, kicked ass live. Good times!
Then SNOW PATROL! Eeeeeee! I blame my brother-in-law for getting me into Snow Patrol. Haha I bought him their CD "Final Straw" for Christmas one year (two years ago?) and then I bought it. And bam! I've been a fan ever since. Then "Chasing Cars" was on Grey's and of course, more people joined the band wagon. But whatever. Anyway. Snow Patrol puts on a kickass show. Gary (lead singer) is full of energy and actually, kinda looks possessed when on stage. Haha And Nathan (their guitarist) is adorable. And he looks like the actor, Rufus Sewell. Funny stuff.
At one point, after a song, someone threw a drink on the stage (mostly ice), then Gary went into a story about how in Glasgow (where the guys formed their band), after the first chord in a song, the front row throws their beer onto the band. Like 40 pints onto the stage. LOL! Gary said, "The first time, you think 'Fucking hell! They hate us,' but then you realise it's a right of passage" and then he thanked the guy who threw his drink on stage and said, "The next song's for the prick with the drink". AHAHAHA! I love Scots/Irishmen. After one song, someone yelled out crazy, kinda like a punk-rock yell and Gary goes, "What the fuck was that? *imitates yell* What'd you say? What? You just yell out something random? Coffee Pot! *imitates yell* Tuesday! *imitates yell* I think you're at the wrong show, maybe My Chemical Romance or whatever." It was great.
They played all the songs I love. And I was happy. And I got a shirt. And took lots of pictures (190 to be exact). But sodding fucking hell! My batteries died after like the second song Snow Patrol played. And all the batteries that I brought as back-ups (rechargeable ones, that I *did* recharge before the show), wouldn't work. I was like, "WTF?! Seriously?!" And then my memory card filled up because my mum insists on not deleting pictures beforehand, and I was too lazy to clear it before (it takes forever to do and I didn't have my laptop on hand to just transfer them over and clear the card). So yeah. Booooooo!
But...I still have pictures *dances*
(It'll take awhile to load, forgive me)
