It hadn't gone exactly to plan, but Liquid was pleased with the results. Even if Snake or Otacon warned Big Boss before he got there, the fact remained that he'd coaxed him out of hiding. In truth, he was a little afraid, deep down, but a soldier had to be capable of supressing their fears. In person, it would be obvious within moments who he was, especially since he wasn't quite as well-informed on Miller's past as he'd liked. He'd had only a few days to research and he hadn't had the support he would usually have had to gain the information. He would have felt safer with the FAMAS, but that might throw his father off sooner. At any rate, it meant more if he could beat him without it.
So he stood at the entrance to the subway station, his arms folded over his chest, and waited. Outwardly, at least, he seemed perfectly relaxed. Inwardly, he wasn't at all. The combination of the childish side of him - so eager to take down his father, to prove his worth - and the soldier part of him - warning him to stay on guard, to know his tactics, to be ready because Big Boss would not be an easy fight - was overwhelming. The stress of it all might have made a weaker - or at least less stubborn - man back out. Liquid never backed out of a fight. The thrill of battle was one of the few pleasures he had, and the only one he indulged in wholeheartedly. This battle would be special. It was a pity they didn't have a better battleground for it.
