That nightmare again. Or maybe he had never woken up from it in the first place. He was wandering aimlessly in a very bright and very hot place. There was no shelter. No shade. No soothing darkness. Ironic, honestly. Wasn't walking toward the light supposed to be a good thing, enter a place where even her outstretched hand couldn't touch his soul? But it was so hot. And he was so alone.
Normally he could have reacted to this situation with a smartass comment, talk tougher than he actually was. He could lay back and get a tan in this place, right?? Except... he couldn't lie. Not here. He was laid bare here. All his weaknesses and vulnerabilities, exposed.
Thirsty. He was so thirsty. When he was awake it was almost impossible for him to hold anything down. It was such a fucked up contradiction. His body craved water and yet refused to hold it.
He sank down to the burning ground. It was too bright to keep his eyes open. Where was he anyway? Where did everyone go?
He often had dreams, nightmares, about watching his family getting killed over and over. Most of the time, he was the one holding the weapon in his hand that sliced through their soft flesh like melted butter, their flying blood drops eyewitnesses to the gruesome crimes. But there was one more dream worse than that. A dream of being alone. Because that was his fate. Even if they all came back, they would all leave him after they discovered what he had done to them. And that was more than he deserved.
