"I've got it," he replied, already getting to his feet from his seat at a kitchen chair, facing Kanji and the others. Souji paid for the pizza and brought it over to the kitchen table. Hawaiian wasn't his favorite, but it was a special request from Kanji. He went to go grab plates, still disbelieving, but relieved that everyone was (now) safe together.

First she watched Souji move from his chair and over to the door to get the pizza then she let her eyes move back to Kanji. There was something different about him that she couldn't put her finger on. Not that it seemed to be too much to be concerned about, but the fact that something had changed made her curious.

But instead of speaking up, she continued to sit in silence on the couch for another moment or two, thinking to herself. Eventually she stood, moving her gaze from Kanji to Yosuke.

"I suppose I'll get the drinks. Is there anything you three would like?"

Yosuke was distinctly uncomfortable. This guy had pretty much threatened him to get him here, and yet everyone else was acting like things were fine. Sure, Tatsumi had told him they were friends. But...how? Anyway, he wasn't sure what to say about any of it. Did the guy remember dying? Should they tell him about Chie? Would he think that whole thing with her was funny, like karmic justice? Did he even know what karmic justice was? He honestly looked kind of stoned or something...

Yosuke involuntarily jumped at Naoto's question and sprang up from his seat immediately. "I'll help!"

"Whoa, uh..." It felt slightly strange to have everyone jumping up to serve him while he sat there on his ass. Especially since those people were his senpai and Naoto.

But then again, it was a little too late to volunteer. Rubbing the back of his neck, he answered, "Just a... a soda's fine..."

"I'll just have water. By the way, happy birthday." He handed Kanji a plate and smiled.

"You came on short notice. Will a birthday dinner tomorrow be okay?" he asked, handing plates to the other two.

He was a bit worried about the way Yosuke has been reacting to Kanji so far. He almost understands why but he thought that since Kanji hasn't tried punching him yet, he would be okay.

Naoto blinked, but took the plate that was handed to her. Was it really his birthday? She had forgotten all about it.

"Happy birthday, Kanji-kun." She gave him a small smile, placed the plate down on the end table next to the couch then made her way over to the kitchen to grab the drinks. Opening the fridge, she pulled out a soda for Kanji then stopped to glance back at Yosuke.

Yosuke was conveniently right on her heels, with the glass of water that Souji had asked for. He'd already taken a sip of it distractedly, but that hadn't really sunk in, either. His pizza was sitting in the cupboard on top of the glasses, forgotten already.

"Oh...this is a birthday party? Uh. Sorry, I didn't know."

"Birthday?" That was news to him. He perked up a little. "Is it my birthday? Holy shit! Almost makes up for missing Christmas."

He beamed a great big grin over to Souji. It suddenly made more sense why everyone was being extra nice to him - except Yosuke, who apparently didn't know. But he wasn't about to get pissed over that, considering he didn't know either.

Kanji took a bite of pizza before exclaiming to the other two, with a full mouth, "Thanksh, shenpai! Naoto!" There was more, but it was unintelligible until he swallowed: "...We don't gotta do anything special. I got everything I need right here."

Souji cocked an eyebrow at Yosuke and had to stop himself from shaking his head. Maybe later he should sit down and talk to him...

He nodded, but that didn't mean he wasn't going to make something special for dinner tomorrow. Well, speaking of the fact that Kanji didn't know what day today was...

"Kanji, what day was it back in Inaba when you were Pulled here this time?" he asked as he took a slice for himself and sat at the table.

Before Yosuke had the chance to hand Souji the glass, Naoto raced over to put a fresh glass of water in his hand and gave Kanji his soda before returning back to the kitchen. Why did Yosuke leave his plate in the cupboard? She sighed and carried it back to the idiot who left it there.

But as Souji brought up his next question, she paid more attention to the conversation, staring at Kanji and just waited for an answer.

Yosuke had followed Naoto back out to the other room the first time, and then taken up the space directly beside Souji's elbow and not moved since. He hadn't really wanted a glass of water, but he had one now, so he'd deal with it.

Like everybody else in the room, Yosuke was studying Kanji. The main difference being that Yosuke was still trying to figure out what a guy like that was doing there in the first place. Obviously he didn't have the whole picture. Souji was no idiot, and that Shirogane kid didn't seem to be, either.

Still, he wasn't about to get into punching range or anything. But he was just as curious as the others, even if it was for different reasons. "Did you actually go back to Inaba? You're sure?"

Kanji looked between the three of them, directing an irritated look at Yosuke for that unnecessary question. "Yeah, I'm sure. Think I know Inaba when I see it, dude. Outta all of you, I lived there the longest, so... Yeah, I went back there. No doubt about it."

He sighed, rocking his head back to crack his neck. Though the memories of previous conversations they'd had in Siren's Port returned and told him everything would be okay in the end, the events going on in Inaba were still fresh and raw for him. He didn't want to spend much time talking about them. But here they were all expecting it, so there was no way around it. "It was November 6th," he says. "Pretty sure, at least. Nanako, uh... We were on our way to rescue Nanako."
