I know, Snake. An' I'm sorry I never told yer about fings, but.. I was jus' tryin' ter protect yer. [ he cups the younger man's face, thumbs brushing over pale eyelashes. ] I didn' want none of yer near th' Baron, an'.. I didn' want more'n were already caught up in it dealin' wiv th' fings some of us 'ad ter do.
[ a pause, glancing briefly down at a watch on his wrist, before meeting snake's eyes with a faint smile. ]
Come back wiv me, yeah? There's a telly in me room an' me john oughta' be gone by now. [ joker's never been ashamed of turning tricks, but the members of the circus are the only ones he's ever been honest with about it. after all, they'd all come from the gutter, and joker had spent most of his youth using whatever means he could to provide for the others. he'd been the oldest, after all-- it had been his job. ]
