Greeters and Gathering! thepull_mods January 2 2012, 08:17:48 UTC
The Snow globes continue to pop up, slowly falling into the field through out the morning. Greeters who make it out there are asked to gather up a few and take them carefully to the conference/meeting hall in the Tower apartments. There they will be placed on tables for others to pick them up.

The field has snow covering it, so sometimes globes are hard to see. Be careful not to trip on them, and keep a look out for falling incoming globes. The globes will stop appearing shortly before noon.

Those who are not greeters are more then welcome to come out and help carry them in, or just look for your own. Those of you trying to make off with others globes however, be careful! The Greeter Protection Group is also here helping!

[ She's standing at the edge of the field with a thermos of hot chocolate and styrofoam cups to fill up for any arrivals new or old, but the rest of the time she's helping bring globes in, hunting among the drifts of snow.

Whether you're a new arrival looking for directions or an old friend looking to catch up, you're more than welcome to say hello-- or ask her about a certain snowglobe.] ]

[ Late as usual when it comes to Greeter gatherings, he's energetically ploughing through the snow in strong boots, occasionally knocking a globe by accident with his strides; so when he arrives by Yako it's at the end of an apology to another Greeter. There's not much he can do as part of the Greeter Protection force right now, but if there's manual work to be done-- that's his strength.

...Not on an empty stomach, though. Kotetsu pauses his journey just next to her, arms pressed against his body in enduring the cold. ] What a morning call! You been here long?

[ Yako flashes Kotetsu a sympathetic grin-- she's pretty well-wrapped up herself, but the officer looks like he could use an extra layer or two of clothes. Instead, she pours him a cup of hot chocolate and holds it out to him, beaming brightly. ]

Only for the last hour or so. They just keep coming, don't they? [ She means the snowglobes. ]

[ As one of the Greeters, Caster came as soon as she received the news about the falling snow globes. ]

[ She'll spend the rest of her time searching and carrying snow globes over to the table, but she's always willing to answer any questions or provide assistance. ]

[Sora's occasionally had contact with Caster as a fellow greeter: saying hello and goodbye at the end of a shift, lending a hand whenever needed, handing off paperwork or equipment. But he's never had what would constitute as a decent conversation.]

[Snowglobes falling from the sky filled with memories? Sounds like a good excuse to him. He's got a few cradled in his arm and another in his other hand.]

Have you ever seen anything like it?

[ Caster had a few snow globes held tenderly in her own arms, nearly like she meant to rock an infant to sleep. She had just finished adding one more to the bundle, when Sora's familiar voice drew her attention. ]

[ She had certainly seen the boy every now and then, on the network and on their shifts. He seemed like a good kid and a hard worker, and seeing the snow globes in his hand only strengthened that impression. ]

[ She smiled, softly. ] Never in my life. It's amazing, really.

Have you managed to find yours? If you do have one, that is.

Yeah. There's only one time I've ever seen anything close. Something that happened a long time ago back home. But, I think this is a lot prettier.

[He shakes his head. Sorted through quite a few, and he's stumbled upon a few globes of his friends, but no luck on his own.] Haven't found mine yet. Mine's still out there, somewhere.

What about you? Found yours yet?

Not yet. [ She briefly glanced at the remaining globes littering the field, nearly wincing as the chiming sound gained in pitch for one brief moment. ]

But if it is, it will only be a matter of time. It's interesting, isn't it? How the Core gave each of us a way to tell which is ours.

Well... [ A light, amiable chuckle. ] Assuming that it is the Core's doing. Sometimes, it's easy to charge the Core with every unusual occurrence in the city, but you have to wonder.

[A nod.] If it is the Core, it's about time it did something nice for us!

Past few weeks have been tough on everybody, what with nightmares and then those weird shadows.

[Times have been trying for Sora and his friends in particular.]

You said it. [ Caster let out a soft sigh, before a smile tinged with relief eased across her lips. ] Somehow, doesn't it feel like the Core is nearly trying to connect us?

The Shadows expose our inner sides. The nightmares reveal what we fear in our dreams. Now these snow gloves seem to be showing us a piece of our world.

[Sora turns to her with a curious expression. That isn't a response most people give him.]

You know, I've never thought about it like that before...

But I think if I wanted to be connected with somebody, I'd want it to be different.

Some of these things are really important to people -- Hopes, dreams, fears. If I wanted to learn about somebody, I'd want it to be because they wanted to share with me, not because they had to. I'd wanna earn it.

[ Similarly, Caster turned her head to give him a cursory once-over, as if viewing him in a different light. He spoke with principle and honor, and it was undeniably rare. ]

Perhaps, the Core is like a child. It does not understand the human concept of privacy or even emotion.

Some believe that the Core's purpose is freeing society from their prejudice and fears of the supernatural. It may very well believe this is the most efficient way in achieving its objective.

[ A wry hint quirks the corner of her mouth upwards. ] Well, that is, only if you believe the Core is sentient.

You mean does the Core think and stuff? Hmmm... sometimes it really feels like it. [A soft laugh.] If the Core wanted to teach us this stuff, it'd be just as easy writing us a letter.

And anyway, the supernatural's not so bad, if you ask me. [Speaking from experience. He's got a few spooky friends who'd attest to that very fact.]

[ Caster's smile warmed with a sense of approval. ]

It's good to see someone take things with such high spirits. Never lose that attitude of yours, Sora. It's the kind that saves lives. [ If anything, she would say that he truly had a hero's mentality. ]

[He rubs the back of his neck bashfully. Aw, lady. He sure hopes he's able to save some lives]

What about you? Somehow it doesn't sound like you're all that scared of the supernatural.
