[ Villains, minions, and those with questionable ethics -- Ukyou's men will show them inside the Heiwausou through a discreet back entry. Their entry here will be kept a secret from the rest of the attendants in the general party area. ]

[ Inside is much like any other room in the Heiwausou, along with gilded, well-furnished tables for gambling, card games, or anything else that strikes your character's fancy. A few comfortable couches rest against the wall. ]

[It seems almost a cliche that Tonegawa might be found by the poker tables, but for now he's simply a spectator, watching cards shuffle and chips clap down onto the green felt. Immaculately dressed and holding a glass of cognac, he seems perfectly content to watch rather than participate- unless someone were to offer up a challenge, that is. He couldn't possibly turn down one of those.]

[If a child with big green eyes and long eyelashes looks out of place at this private party, no one is saying anything. He did receive an invitation just like everyone else, and he even dressed up for the occasion. Rather than the dressier Uzushio clothing, he's clad in a small suit with his shoulder length dark hair tied back into a tidy little ponytail.

He doesn't know how to play most of the games here, so he's simply peering over the tables and observing. When he bumps Tonegawa's arm lightly, he smiles apologetically.]

Oops, sorry mister!

[It's rather fortunate that the cognac is in his other hand, considering that little bump. Tonegawa blinks for a moment, wondering where it might have come from- and then he realises he isn't looking quite low enough to match that voice.]

Ah... [Admittedly, he's taken aback at first- but then he reasons that the boy must be a son admitted as a favour and coughs lightly.] My apologies. Am I in your way? [Better to be polite in case the father is worth noting.]

Oh no, not at all. I just wanted to watch and learn how to play.

[Specifically, he wants to learn how to play so that he can learn how to cheat, but he leaves that part out. Peering up, he regards the man curiously.]

You look kind of familiar...were you at Madara's party at the Uzushio?

You might be a little young to play at these tables. [He doesn't sound entirely comfortable, for once- he's never much liked children, never mind speaking to them

Still, that's worth continuing the conversation over. Tonegawa frowns slightly.] Yes, I was. Were you there with family?

[Tonegawa's discomfort is a pleasant appetizer for one who consumes negative emotions the way Phibrizzo does. It also guarantees he won't be walking away in the next few minutes.]

Madara is my foster father. Or he was. Now he's gone.

[The boy looks a little downcast at that.]

I'm one of his three heirs...but I think I miss him most.

[Just wonderful. Not only has he been speaking to the adopted child of a notable member of AGI, but the adopted child of a notable member of AGI who recently vanished. As if he wasn't already having to tread carefully.]

I see. I'm very sorry for your loss; I'd heard good things about him. That said, I don't believe I've met either of your... siblings, are they?

Jack and Rin? I guess you could call them my siblings, but we're not actually related. They were at the party, too. They were working at the party, and then kind of...being lazy and silly at the after party.

[Courtesy of Madara using his powers to make them act like lap dogs so that there was no risk of them telling the authorities about the afterparty, but Phibrizzo omits that information.]

I guess Madara decided it was okay if they had fun the rest of the night.

[The names ring a bell but not overwhelmingly so, though he remembers their faces- nonetheless he commits their relationship to memory.

That does raise other questions, though.]

I believe I've seen them around. That would make you the youngest, wouldn't it? [he tilts his head] He also decided it would be okay if you stayed for the rest of the party, then? That's unusual.

Well, I can do something that Jack and Rin can't.

[Phibrizzo lowers his voice conspiratorially.]

I can sense the Darkness monsters. So I can make sure the Darkness proofing is still working properly and warn everyone if it's not. Except for cleaning up my own room, that's the only chore I had to do at the Uzushio.

[Now that makes a little more sense.]

So that's why you stayed up? In order for you to keep a close eye out for monsters? That's a useful little talent.

That's part of it. And I was interested, too. Madara's really smart and powerful and he knows how to make friends with important people. I want to be just like him when I'm older so I can be the first Newcomer mayor of Siren's Port.

[Tonegawa gives a hearty laugh at that- a genuine one at that, and largely not in a mocking way.] Is that so? Then I can understand why you might be here of all place. [he smiles pleasantly over his drink] I can admire someone with ambition. What do you have planned for yourself?

Well, I think all the elementary school classes are way too easy for me. So I was thinking of maybe taking classes at Hawthorne University. Then when I'm eighteen, I can take over the Uzushio and run it for a while until I'm ready to run for mayor, unless Madara comes back before then and stays here. That would be better. I miss him.

[He speaks in a child's animated tones, but he's clearly thought things through far better than a typical child.]

I don't really know what classes I should take, though. The best way to become really important on my world was to get into the Sorceror's Guild.

University, an eye for opportunities, the ability to sweet talk the right people... [Not to mention being willing to throw dead weight off at the first opportunity. He counts the options off on his free hand, smiling] Mostly, though, it all comes down to three things: connections, money and ambition. You seem to have the third in abundance.

[And not just ambition, either. He frowns] You know "magic", then?
