Summary: Celebrating the holidays as kids usually do: stories, games, food, presents and happy.

Christmas Eve

[Decorating the tree, chatting, and eating. That's one thing Keybearers do best, right? And that's what they'll be doing for most of the night, just enjoying each other's company before bed.]

Roxas + open to all

[It's the second year in a row that they've done this-Roxas suppose that officially makes it a tradition. He's fine with that; it's a good tradition.

He's still not great at shopping for presents, but he's done his best over the last few weeks, and he's brought all of the nicely-wrapped gifts with him, along with a homemade dessert. It's nice to be able to relax together like this, casting off some of their usual worries aside just for a while. He wonders if this is what having a family is like.]

Joe's been burning the metaphorical candle at both ends the past few weeks, so to speak-

This becomes visibly obvious when everything finally winds down after a bellyful of food and a hot cup of milky cocoa-

It's barely seven thirty, but the coziness of being surrounded by friends and finally relaxing hits him like a fast ton of bricks-

And so Joe keeps lightly dozing off on the couch, lower half wrapped up in a blanket, blinking blearily awake every few minutes or so to interject an opinion or two to the conversation, then slipping back off into a very light snooze.

"Hey." Roxas flops down next to Joe with enough force that it'll probably jolt him awake again. "Want some eggnog?"

It's not his favorite drink, but it's festive in a unique way that it makes it appropriate for tonight. And it's not bad.

"nnhwha-" He stretches groggily, adjusting himself a bit more upright.

"Eggnog? Nah, I'll pass-" Joe shakes his head with a small laugh "I've been drinking way too much of that stuff."

"But it's the time of year to overdo it. Or something like that."

He leans back in his seat, lazy and content. "Seems like we just did this. A year went fast."

Joe yawns, and cheerfully stretches his legs out, right across Roxas's lap.

"Yeah. I still remember it like it was only just a few days ago." He sighs with deep content. "A whole year, and you're still here- all of our good friends are here, Aslan's back-"

"It's perfect."

"Like we all got everything we wanted." He adjusts Joe's feet on his lap to make sure they're in a reasonably comfortable spot. "I'm not sure I'll ever need to eat again, though."

"And what, miss pancakes in the morning?" He laughs, wriggling toes in his socks.

"Riku's doing the whole goose for Aslan again, I think, when he comes." Not if.

"I better have room then." Those toes better not stink, mister. "Goose sounds good. I'm almost jealous. But he deserves it." Definitely not if.

Not too much- he washes his socks.

But Joe blinks up at the ceiling thoughtfully, cocking his head.

"I wonder if Sora would be mad if we ate a duck- you know, 'cause of Donald."

"What-if we-"

He busts out laughing, hopefully not jostling Joe's feet too much. It's not that joking about eating a relative of Sora's friend is funny, but the imagined expression on his face is.

"Maybe we shouldn't find out." He wipes mirthful tears from the corners of his eyes.

"Well, we could say it's a duck and I bet he wouldn't know the difference?" Joe reasons keenly, a little wink of mischief in his eye. True, it's treding the line of naughty or nice, with just a few hours to spare, but...

The look on Sora's face just might be worth it.

"I don't know." But he's sort of tempted. "We'd have to tell him the truth after."

"After, sure-" He grins, with an easy roll of his shoulders, tucking hands back behind his head. "It's not like we'd leave him upset forever, on Christmas."

"That'd be too mean." He grins back. "And not quite as funny."
