[Open] Headbanger's Ball / Heavy Metal Night

Dec 03, 2011 18:49

Who: OPEN TO ALL.
When: Saturday, December 3rd, from four P.M. to morning sirens.
Where: An abandoned warehouse in Sector 8.
Summary: That one zazzy event Pickles and D-Joe have been talking about.
Warnings: Adult language, loud music, alcohol and drug consumption, mentions of satanic imagery, eventual violence and NPC death, and anything else that comes out of player threads.

He couldn't stop rolling his eyes at the time: four in the afternoon was when children's birthday parties started, not underground concerts. He thought it'd be hilarious to make people race to get there before (even after) the evening sirens; maybe even come up with a password at the door just to see the looks on their faces, but his partners in this project didn't get the joke. So four P.M., it was.

Though Pickles really did something with the abandoned warehouse space. Twenty-plus years in the music business, he understood that heavy metal wasn't just galloping drum beats and some dude screaming incomprehensible lyrics at you--many are drawn in by the show. Appearance was the liquid mercury frosting on top of the metal cupcake. It was just as much about the pyrotechnics, smoking guitars, and face paint as much as it was about the music itself. And he would immediately write off the next person that implied it was because they had to "overcompensate" for shitty music.

He bought red paint and wrote "Helvete" on the inside of the warehouse door--the rest is splashed around haphazardly like blood. There were strobe lights and a smoke machine, a pentagram on the backdrop behind the makeshift stage, and a rather large poster of a baphomet hung behind the open bar. He even managed to somehow get a few chains to drape around. It was like Brutal Eye for the Every Day Jack-Off Guy.
