The passing of the week nearly felt like changing clothes. Caster wore one for a day and then slipped it off for the next, in a cycle that felt torturously never-ending when she disliked the wardrobe. It chafed her skin and grated against her nerves, and yet, she continued to adorn her face with pleasant smiles that felt sleeked on like her favorite, purple lipstick.
However, with the coming of Christmas, time seemed to sweep past just a little swifter. She spent her evenings at the underground mall, browsing the stores to find gifts for those that she knew. Occasionally, she took a seat at a table, with a single, white ribbon spread across the table, a pen in hand, and a curiously contemplative expression. Eventually, she would make her way through the Darkness to return home with several shopping bags.
On weekend mornings, she might also frequent a coffee shop to purchase one of the treats on sale, but she never actually stayed inside to eat it herself.
Although her schedule varied from time to time, there was one thing that she did every night without fail. Shortly before midnight, she would steal into the night to Winthers Lake, carrying a delicate, white calla lily in hand. Strangely enough, it was no longer in her grasp when she made her way back home. Yet, there were times that she walked back with a bundle of lilies in her arms.
With the late hour of the evening, she could run into trouble with a questionable individual or a monster, but she usually managed to find a way out of it, unscathed. After all, she knew that she was far more precarious than any creature of the Darkness.
