[He loathed this place and the representation of what he is, what he no longer associates with. Godric on most nights seeks solace out in the city. He's met a few people, connected with even less, but there's something different with Eric.

Perhaps to anyone else Eric is still Eric, but Godric notices the way his lips curl just a bit more, the way his eyes seem to be all the more bright. He knows those looks. Eric is up to something.

So he stays. He keeps an eye out, watching each patron and employee with slow moving eyes and his mouth closed. Even when others try to talk to him, he remains quiet and certainly looks out of place. An almost shy looking sixteen year old. But to those that know him, know the authority in his grace, his stands pronounced and ridges, not at all like a lost child despite his appearance.

Several times he glances at Eric, meeting his eyes. He does not disrupt him, just making himself aware.]

[ Eric joins him after a short while, looking placid. ]

You hate it here. Is something the matter?

Hate is a strong word. [He's specifically not answering Eric's question as he inclines his head up to look at him.]

[ Eric does not ask him again. ]

Very well; you dislike it to the point of enmity. The whole thing, the glorified act, the macabre dance, sickens you through to your very core.

[He won't play into Eric's flauntings. He suspects Godric as much as the Maker suspects the Childe.]

Call it a curiosity. Our kind is different here. [Not a bold face lie. Godric is intrigued by the variance in breeds of vampire here, but he's not about to publicly question Eric's current dealings.]

Which makes us all the more unique, and our trust in each other all the more crucial.

[ But he lets the matter lie, and turns away. ]

I could regail you with stories of the kinds of vampires I've met or heard of here. There are rumours of men who have 'met' Dracula. And a child vampire whose very survival requires her being around others of her kind. Fascinating, isn't it?

[His eyes flicker at the word 'trust'. Eric may be able to slide his way out with anyone else with that line, but Godric knew the younger vampire far too well to even fall for it. Ironic, really.]

I have met a few already. One who in his world, vampires are soulless. Another girl is still living and ages. The thought changes much.

The last is one I heard of. And the soulless--so interesting. Spike, his name was, from that world. He worked here for a short time.

[ He steps closer. ]

The variety is fascinating; like fiction itself touches and changes myth. Humans are always human, but we vampires are never the same between worlds, and we by default are the strongest, the fastest, the oldest, of any kind that I have heard spoken of here. Until you came, I believed myself the oldest vampire on the island.

I met him as well, but he was not the one I was referring to.

[He does not move.]

What an odd concept. To be the thing of myths. Stories told in other worlds, shaping who and what we are.

It is. And some of those stories are summarily ludicrous. Vampires that drink tomato juice instead of blood, or prey on small animals, or drink pig's blood.

The werewolves suffer the same things; they are not all born equal, as the wolves of our world are. There are some more akin to shifters in their lore.

[A light huff of thought. Eric, you successfully derailed him. His interest is growing in the various types of supernaturals at the Port.]

Interesting. It seems you are right. The only constant is humanity. How long have you been here?

Long enough to learn the ebbs and flows, but not nearly enough to consider this place any kind of home to me. It has any number of mysteries left.

I do not think this place could be home. Even if this is the last place I shall be in existence.

It is a world to me as any other. A land--like Europe or South America. Its city limits are a little tighter than I care for, but it has food, and a safe place to spend the days. What more could I ask for?
