[Soma comes in at his usual time. He's easy to spot from anywhere in the club: a blot of white against the crowd as he makes his way to the clock-in area for the employees, shrugged off his coat as he goes. It's off before he gets there, and after a moment he's hunched over, quickly punching himself in.]

[ Eric has things to talk about with Soma tonight, so after giving him ten minutes to settle in, complacent, he steps out into his office doorway and motions for him to come in. ]

I have something in mind to discuss with you.

[Soma froze solid at that, looking like the kid that got his hand caught in the candy jar. Oh god, he just found out...! He shook the worry off, letting out a breath. Okay. Chill out.]

Of course, sir.

[Soma went over to his office, bracing himself.]

[ Eric is all smiles, naturally, standing back until Soma is inside, then closing the door behind him. ]

You understand why you're here, of course?

[Soma forced himself to breathe. No, he wasn't going to say anything; he didn't want to look like a complete idiot in front of his boss.]

[...well, anymore than he already did.]

Not really, sir.

[ Just for a moment there he thought-- No. Later. He motioned toward the desk, closing the door behind him. ]

You're still at school, aren't you Soma?

[...okay, maybe he hadn't figured it out yet... Soma sat down at the desk, forcing himself to relax.]

Yes, sir.

[ He leans forward. ]

And how are you finding it? I understand the exam period in particular can be difficult, especially if you're struggling with money issues at the same time.

[Soma let out a faint noise at that, a bit surprised.]

It is... difficult, balancing school and work. I have been doing fine, but I see a lot of my classmates struggling.

They would be, of course, especially in a city like this. The competition for jobs is fierce, and you simply can't afford to do badly at your education...

[ He makes a humming noise, then takes out a ringbinder, opening it in the center of the table. ]

I came upon these when I was purchasing for the club--the tiredness of my guests is rather a recurring problem, as I'm sure you've noticed. Not being able to go home until the sun rises means many are half asleep by four or five in the morning with hours still left to go. They're... I wonder how to describe them. They're designed to give people a burst of energy and focus.

[ He takes out one book and hands it over. The stamps have little animals drawn on them in dark red ink; birds and tigers and sharks. ]

I wondered whether you could sell them to your student friends. I'm sure they'd be useful when you need to focus to study, or around exam time, and you could split the profit you make with me. No more money problems.

[Soma blinked at the binder curiously, leaning forward to get a better look. Considering Soma spent most of his life in Japan, he was used to seeing strange and unusual remedies, so he didn't think anything of the weird little tabs.]

I don't think it will be an issue. I could offer them between classes.

[ Eric nods, thoughtfully, and takes a sheet out of the binder, handing it over. ]

You may give one free as a sample to each--I assure you they will buy the rest of the book at the conclusion of the class.

[Soma looked the sheet over, before giving a nod.]

All right... and what price should I sell these for?

My suggestion is something around $40 for the book of five. Of which you receive half. They are already reduced, but if you wish to discount for your friends, you may do so at your own expense. I get $20 per book, no matter how much you sell them for.

If you make $100 on each, you're welcome to take the extra profit for yourself.

[That sent off a small red flag in Soma's head. Sell them for whatever price he wanted? He shrugged it off after a moment; hey, he wasn't the businessman, Eric was.]

All right. I understand. Is there anything else I should know?

Nothing that comes to mind. Let's talk about your hours. [ He's sliding the folder away quietly and taking out another; this one full of documents pertaining to employees. ] I was wondering if you wanted to take on more over the Christmas period or less.
