[Sabriel had seen the advert in the news feed for the scary story night and had decided to check it out both to meet new people and to get more acquainted with they city. And she knew stories that would make anyone's hair stand on end.
She sees that the pub has comforting feeling of familiarity; not unlike the Wyvern pub back home. She finds herself wearing a soft smile as she takes her cider and looks about for a place to sit. It's then she spies Rin reclining in an armchair. She seems to be alone, so Sabriel, ever eager to socialize, takes it as an opportunity to approach.]

Hello, Rin.

[Rin looks up at the familiar voice. Off the job she's rather more open, and she had a pleasant conversation with Sabriel before, so she sits up with a smile and waves a bit.]

Hello there. You saw this in the news feed, hm?

Yes. It sounded like fun, so I thought I'd come. Is it alright if I join you?

Sure. Hehe, we can tell some stories, if you want.

[Sabriel takes a seat beside her. Luckily for Rin, she knows some stories, and all of them are true!]

How have you been?

[Rin curls up comfortably and watches Sabriel in turn, face relaxed and friendly.]

Tired... and I'm always busy. But it's good to see you here, how are you settling in?

As well as to be expected. It's still all very new to me, though, especially the technology. It's so much more advanced than what I had back in Ancelstierre.

I know what you mean. I'd never even heard of all this stuff before I left home. [Rin shakes her head.] I suppose it makes life easier to have all this stuff, especially with the Darkness, but it sure is a hell of a time getting used to.

[Sabriel nods in agreement.] I hadn't either. I mean, Ancelstierre had electricity and telephones, but...nothing like these NVs, or what have you. It's quite interesting, actually. Not to mention all the different people here. Wyverly wasn't a very big town.

People have sure managed to innovate a lot. Where I'm from we didn't even have electricity or phones. We didn't have Darkness either, though, so maybe home still comes out on top.

Ah, yes...The Darkness. It's very perplexing, I must say.

That's right, you mentioned you fought stuff kind of like it before? [Rin cocks her head.] How'd you learn to do that?

From my father, mostly, and my Charter Magic instructors at Wyverly College. However...the situation isn't exactly like it is here.

How are they different?

Well...there wasn't anything like the Darkness. And the monsters here aren't the same as the Dead in the Old Kingdom, as I explained to you before. The Dead can appear at any time, not just at night, although that's the time they usually prefer. If the sky is darkened enough by cloud or fog, they will take advantage of it and go hunting for victims. Some Dead are powerful enough that even the sun will not harm them.

What about this Charter Magic? You can teach it?
