Saying that Jinx wasn't well was the understatement of the year. Thank god Halloween was coming up, otherwise she wouldn't have been able to find the massive amount of gray concealer she had caked on. Her skin was so thin that her veins were spiderwebs coating her body. Usually, she wore as much clothing as possible to cover it, but she was burning up. When she made her way into Purgatory, she had to remove her jacket. It was amazing she was still on her feet. Still moving around. Still breathing. Especially since she had spent the past several days violently ill. Really, the sorceress should have been in bed, but there were things to do and if you want something done right...
She still had several months to go in this pregnancy. If she was giving up partway through the second trimester, neither of them would make it to the end. Just a few more months before they could cut her apart and remove the baby. That was all she had to last. Just a few more months. She would ignore that feeling in the pit of her stomach. That feeling that something horrible was going to happen. She'd been ignoring it as much as possible for the past several weeks.
Taking slow, calming breaths, Jinx paced back and forth in her club. One hand ran gently over her stomach while the other held a clipboard. They would need to replenish their stocks soon and some prices needed to be readjusted. In a perfect world, she would like to reinforce the Darkness proofing and actually start paying their electric bill, but magic made things like that easy to push aside. This club was an extension of Gabriel and a symbol of their love. It was corny as hell, but it was a comfort to be there, especially when she felt so sick, so dizzy. There was a pain in her gut that wouldn't stop. Ignore it. Move on.
"Hey, gimpy," she called to Chuck without looking at him. "Make me a list of booze we need to restock and try not to break anything while you're at it."
