With Rain's new schedule of helping Fai prep food in the mornings, he's had to adjust his clock to ring right after sirens. Living here for only a few, scant months has already conditioned him to sleep right through the klaxons, so a second alarm is definitely needed.

But, today, in the hazy period after the sirens and before his clock, a rather loud explosion prematurely awakens him and he falls off the bed in a clumsy heap.

Cursing, he gathers himself up and blearily gazes out the window for the cause of it all, and is surprised to see only a man in a red trench-coat standing outside the doors, looking lost.

He opens the window to get a better look.

The small movement in the upper story windows catches Dante's eye easily. He waves both his arms at the inhabitant. "Heeeey!" he shouts, nevermind about the other people in the apartment who might be sleeping still.

"Keep it down!" He mouths disapprovingly, and then thinks better of it and pantomimes at the front doors, indicating that he'll meet Dante there.

Grumbling the whole time as he changes and then descends all 5 floors of stairs, Rain arrives at the lobby and unlocks it for the other man, holding it open, "C'mon."

It was only a few hours earlier that he'd been escorting Sabriel in -at this rate, he might as well be a Greeter and be paid for his efforts.

"Well well, you act like you've been expecting me! That means you either had something to do with why I'm here OR this is where all lost travelers go and I'm just one of many."

"Stop the loudness, please," Rain just grunts a little, rubbing the sleep from his eyes as he answers the question, "The latter...I'll explain inside."

He loosens his grip on the door and lets it swing toward Dante while he heads off inside-whether the other man catches it or not is his business.

Dante pushes through the door and followed Rain into the building. "I take it that means a lot of people who get dumped off in 'Siren's Pull' come here," he said, lowering his voice. "Place actually reminds me of where I'm from."

"Everyone...or most people anyway...who gets pulled into Port shows up in the baseball diamond, so over the years, the government's developed a system of Greeters to help introduce all of us to our new lives. We also get one month's free rent in these apartments to start off with."

Rain grabs some instant coffee mix and hot water in a cup off one of the lobby counters, then turns around and sits heavily in a chair across from Dante.

"No matter where we "Newcomers" come from, we all have one thing in common: we can't go back home. So...how is this place like where you're from?"

"There are plenty of demons around to kill where I'm from, although when I kill them they stay dead, they don't come back the next night. Anyways, name's Dante. I wasn't exactly looking for a place to stay, but now that you mention it, that might be a good thing to have while I figure out what's going on around here."

Dante looks around for a moment.

"What do people do during the day if there's no monsters in the daytime?"

Demon killing? Really? An ironic laugh burbles up through his sleep-deprived crankiness. Rain had spent the better part of 600 years hunting “Angels” himself.

“So you’re a demon bounty-hunter of some sort?” It’s asked in a skeptical tone, but Rain inwardly admits--that’s kinda cool, like a character out of a video game.

That's such a weird question. "Uh, go to school, work, regular normal stuff? What did you used to do?"

"Well as a demon bounty-hunter, my days were pretty much spent crashing demons' parties and ruining their day. But I guess that should count as 'go to work' for me right?"

Ok, that is sorta cool. Rain surreptitiously examines the other for weapons of any sort. The trench-coat and boots are heavy-duty, at least.

"So there're demons walking among people in your world?

I think you'll have no trouble finding a job here doing something similar, although you'll only be going after humans with powers. Probably not as exciting as you're used to."

Perhaps what stands out the most in Dante's arsenal is the guitar Nevan. Swords and guns are pretty standard in weapon type. Maybe Artemis' peculiar shape can cause some confusion about its use.

"Humans huh." Dante's expression darkens. "I don't like killing humans." But then again he doesn't like being plopped randomly into another dimension either. Maybe it's something he'll just have to learn to get used to.

"Back there, there was enough to kill without having to include humans, I'll put it that way."

Well, perhaps there's some sort of magical demonic-device that keeps all of the man's weapons away from scrutiny somehow. Dante doesn't look like he's carrying heavy artillery at least.

Then, Rain starts at Dante's words--that wasn't what he had meant to imply in the least!

"Gah! There are bounties you bring in alive, you know? You don't have to kill them!....Then again, when you think about the companies you're turning them in to, maybe you shouldn't do any bounty-hunting at all...

...Any way, my name's Rain Jewlitt. Nice to meet you, Mr...?"

"Just Dante," he replies. "No mister or sir or that stuff."

"And really? Bringing people in alive? Well that's just a whole new kind of trouble." He'll have to see who's paying out for the trouble before he makes any solid decisions about what he plans to do. If they are big 'companies' like Rain said then why wouldn't they just do it themselves?

Chuckling, Rain goes for the classic dig one is supposed to make when someone introduces themselves as "Just Something".

"Well, 'Just' Dante, I'm sure you can do other things besides hunt bounties...Do you have any ideas?"

In fact, Rain was all in favor of doings OTHER than what that would cause harm to people. Criminals or not. The fact that Dante had reacted in a way that showed he didn't like killing people made Rain respect the young man.

"I'm a one trick pony and that one trick is kicking ass," replied Dante bluntly.
