Sept 17th - Night reflectedstasis September 20 2011, 22:16:39 UTC
"...it's pointless, you know."

Fai's steps were slow, steady, as he made his way towards where the man was fighting the monsters, blue eye on the monsters, hands in the pockets of his black trench coat as he made his way closer, on his way home from his shift at the Twin's club.

"They disappear for the moment when you kill them, but they'll be back tomorrow."

Dante kept his weapons pointed away from the stranger. Really he was glad to find a sentient being to consult, and did not want to risk antagonizing the person that approached him.

"That's good to know. I suppose I'll stop chasing these things around then." He frowned, but only for a moment. The blond didn't carry any visible weapon, but surely no one would wander around in the dark with monsters without defenses. "So uh...Seems my rotten luck with women might turn around," he smirked, completely oblivious of his mistake.

"...is that so?"

Fai laughed softly, a low, melodic sound as he made his way closer still. He canted his head to the side, messy blond locks sliding across the eye-patch a bit more as a slow smile curved his lips, more amused than anything by the assumption. "Are you so sure of that, my friend~?"

And then he blinked and nodded his chin up towards the rotgut cougar, added lightly, "Behind you."

"I'd say that beautiful smile beats shooting me in the head like the last lady I met did."

Dante looked around in time to see the feline monster creeping on him. The appearances of monsters long ceased to impress him, though he did wonder at the logic of evolving such a bloated belly. It didn't look so tough. He took a swipe at it with his sword, unsure of what to make of the way it just flopped over and took the hit.

"Er..." Well back where he came from, some creatures like Blood Gargoyles liked taking hits because it made them multiply. He had a sinking he just made that mistake here.

Fai cursed softly under his breath and stepped back, away from the corpse as he raised an arm to cover his nose and mouth with the crook of his elbow.

"Back off the corpse!"

Barely had the words gotten out before an oddly colored, noxious fume started to seep from the cut and cacophony of feline mews and cries could be heard - all getting louder as they moved closer. He stepped back again, blue eye flashing gold as he looked around them, pressed his palms together.

His hands rotated against each other in opposite directions as he focused his magic, drew the dagger-tail sword from the seal in his palm.

"That, my friend, is a rather poisonous bit of nasty, and unless I missed my mark, ah nope, here they are, you've just killed the pack mother." That said, he flicked his wrist to release the blade, whipped it around to cut the heads off two of the 'kittens' scurrying up from behind him.

Dante backpedaled away from the discolored cloud, though perhaps he stared a moment too long. "Geezus..." he muttered when he caught sight of the many pairs of eyes closing in on them. "That's much worse than Blood Gargoyles," he decided, drawing his handguns in a single motion.

He shot a few of the kittens between the eyes, but they were quick, and the ones who weren't unlucky enough to get shot closed the distance easily. "These kittens don't look so cute." He coughed, probably from getting a whiff of the poison, but he wasn't too worried about that...at the moment.

"I've never met a blood gargoyle, so I'll have to take your word there, but these?" he pauses, the serrated whip lashing out with graceful precision, though one or two of the more agile ones would manage to jump just enough to miss receiving a serious hit.

"Definitely not the worst thing I've seen here. Guess that means you're still pretty new, right?"

It took all Fai's effort to not attack the little creatures swarming around him, though he did watch them with a rather suspicious, golden-eyed gaze. There were so many strange people here with even stranger powers, including himself, and this guy was no exception to that unusual rule.

Those were weapons he'd never seen, not in all the dimensions they'd traveled, and thus, a touch interesting.

So maybe that was the reason why he glanced around as he snapped the whip back into a blade then let his eye fade back to blue before looking at the kid.

"Come on, let's move before the rest of their pack come looking." He paused, then sighed as he re-sealed his weapon. "Besides, there are hours before morning siren left, so you can hang out in my shop and grab a bite to eat until then. We're only a block away from the subway, now. It'll be safe enough on there."

"Food sounds like the best thing in the world right now!"

Dante seems to cheer up instantly at the mention of food. He doesn't know the significance of 'morning sirens' yet but he's sure he'll figure it out later. Hopefully there is pizza in this world, but he's definitely not in the mood to be picky.

Fai laughed softly at that, then slipped his hands into his pockets once again, nodded towards the station, then began walking in that direction. He'd come down towards the apartments on a whim, because the twins had disappeared and not come back, and he'd been curious.

For now, however, he simply lead the way towards the station.

Though the fact that this guy could be hungry after fighting all of these twisted being, without being upset, was a bit curious - which was why he cut his gaze to the side and asked lightly, "Used to seeing such things as those gargoyles or such, huh?"

"They're not the worst things out there," shrugged Dante. "Oh, I mean where I'm from," he corrected himself. "They're just annoying because they get in your way when you're trying to kill something else and start multiplying if you accidentally hit them."

Dante followed after Fai, exuding a carefree air but in fact quite aware of the surroundings in case anything else tries to sneak up on them.

"But yea, they're pretty common when you go hunting for bigger and badder demons like I do. Erm, did."

"Oh, a demon hunter, hm?" Fai chuckled softly to himself as he lead the way down the stairs and into the station, then shot the man another quick, easy grin. "My friend has also been a demon hunter from time to time, but I'm guessing it's not the same."

He paused just long enough to buy a ticket for this kid, then passed it off to the other before heading to the gate, ran his own pass through. "So, got a name, mister demon hunter with the strange weapons?"

"Maybe the demons aren't the same from place to place, but the job pretty much follows the same beat." He nodded his thanks for the ticket. "Name's Dante."

"Mmm, Dante, huh?"

Fai steps through the gate and started walking down the platform, long duster loose around him before he glanced back to see if the young man was following.

Blond locks slid across his cheek as he offered a small, almost teasing smile - he was having way too much fun with the other's continued misconception about his gender. "My name's kinda long, so you can just call me Fai. So how long have you been fighting through the Darkness monsters tonight, hm?"

The name did not trip any red flags to alert Dante about his mistake; Fai sounded like a gender-ambiguous name. "Nice name," smirked Dante. "Suits that nice smile of yours."

"I've only been wandering around for about an hour before you came along. Although I feel like I should be the one helping you, not the other way around. So yea, if you need anyone's ass to be kicked, let me know." Sure, Fai could take care of himself; Dante already saw that, but hey, why not offer a pretty lady his number?
