When: Monday, September 19th.
Where: The Industrial Sector.
Summary: Since he's killed Zoey, Re-l takes it upon herself to hunt down the Joker and beat the living tar out of him arrest him. Things get a little crazy.
Warnings: Joker gets his own warning. Violence, swearing. Will update accordingly if necessary.
Batman had warned her several times before about the Joker, about how dangerous he was. The death counts spoke for themselves, after all. In her idiocy, she thought that maybe if she kept his attention, if she made him focus on her, he wouldn't bother anyone else. Daedalus had been one thing - he was her doctor, after all - but she had expected him to leave the others alone. Zoey hadn't been anything more than a co-worker, but she had been a Newcomer and someone Re-l wanted to protect. She had been a hard worker. She didn't deserve what had happened to her. She felt responsible in many ways for Zoey's death. Livio didn't blame her, of course, as he had lumped the blame on his own shoulders as well...but she knew the Joker better. She knew what he was capable of.
Why hadn't she acted sooner? Why hadn't she kept hunting him?
It didn't matter now. Someone else was dead and the blame rested on her. It was time for her to set it right.
No one asked her to look for him. Batman didn't offer to do it. She just set off, shotgun loaded and strapped to her thigh, her second pistol holstered on her opposite hip. She had no intention of using either weapon but they offered security where she had none, reminded her that she could take control of the situation when she found him. She could put the gun to his head and hit him, cuff him up and get back-up. And if she didn't do that, maybe she could get him to back down. (Delusional. He'll never do that.)
She had taken her bike and had driven out to his old hideaway, running into the two hyenas waiting there. Their bowls had been filled sometime the night prior, probably while she was working, but she couldn't wait for him to return. He could hide out elsewhere for days. And so she set off again out into the streets until she finally caught a brief bit of a trail heading into the Industrial Sector. It wasn't much, but it was her only lead.
She parked in some alleyway and went in search for him, trying one of the large and abandoned construction sites nearby. He wouldn't hide out in the open, after all. She made her way inside, careful for any traps that might ensnare her before she found her target.
