Sector Four, park late afternoon tea_lover64 September 13 2011, 03:48:47 UTC
Summer was ending, it seemed the seasons were the same on this world as on his. Familiarity was comfortable, and though he missed his world and family and friends, he had been treated quite well here for the most part. He was sitting on a park bench looking at the trees, and takes a deep breath in, and exhales slowly.

It was good to remember he was alive and well. He knew that his purpose in life had been fufilled, and that the world was on the right path. He viewed his coming here as an almost extra adventure life had thrown his way. As he sits and takes in everything around him, he has a very relaxed expression on his face.

Usually, Elaine liked spending time in the park as Summer drew closer to the end and the trees began to lose their green luster. Autumn had been her favorite season to spend when she lived in London. Those times when everything seemed so much simpler and she could pretend to be the human being she never was born to be.

She walks this time without the usual gleam in her eyes. Her shoulders are slumped and her hands in her pocket. She stops near the bench where the old man is sitting on. He seems so relaxed that makes her feel a pang of envy.

"Hi," she greets pleasantly. "Can I sit there?" she asks, gesturing at the empty space beside him. There's still plenty of room on the bench.

A voice interupts his calm, though he is not upset by it. He was always happy to talk to strangers, they had helped him in the past when he was feeling at his worst, he felt obligated to make it possible for others. He gives her a pleasant smile, and pats the seat beside him.

"Of course you may, I always enjoy the company of a lady." he replies. She seemed to be concerned about something, her body language gave quite the picture.

"Thanks."

Elaine smiles and takes a seat on the opposite side of the bench. She is a little tense, but not in the sense normal people are tense. Her body language is more of an afterthought to the emotions that she radiates when she isn’t focused enough to help herself.

"It's going to be Autumn soon," she comments, attempting to make small conversation and keep her from thinking about her uncle's departure. "I really like the park during that season."

Cassandra has spent her days attempting to make herself at home in Siren's Port, carving out what she can and establishing some semblance of identity for herself. The problem, of course, has always been that there has never been a Cassandra Cain outside of Batgirl, Black Bat, whatever she's taken her name for. She gave up that life when she ran away when she was little. Even in Blüdhaven, she never really reached out to anyone besides Brenda. That had been a little awkward too.

So here she is, trying to be...someone. Trying to be someone she's not. Trying not to be a Bat or a Wayne, and it's...difficult. She tries to walk and take the streets but the rooftops look enticing. They make her want to climb up there and run.

It's when she looks up like that, looking for a good spot, that she sees someone on a rooftop as well. And that piques her interest. She watches the other girl keenly, unsure. She doesn't know if she recognizes her or not.

Elaine Belloc knows that Cassandra has arrived and has spotted her on the rooftop. She doesn't need to look at her to know she's glancing at her while she stiffly stands with her arms wrapped around her body at the edge of the Lux. She also hopes she doesn’t think she's about to do a suicidal jump.

Slowly, she retracts one arm to give a friendly, silently wave at her direction. Elaine is thinking about an ice-breaker next. What can she say to her: 'Hi, Cassandra. Would you mind not to stare at me while I stand here looking all melodramatic? There weren't any tall mountains near or I'd have taken that option.' Pft. Right.

A young lady is busking with a set of multiple pipes. She's technically proficient and playing interesting new music, but is clearly unskilled at drawing in people who are inclined to just walk by.

Out of all the Sectors, Elaine dislikes to get near SERO and AGNI places the most. She feels her mind picking up things that upset her and she ends up hating herself for not interfering in what is certainly not her business. She isn't their Maker, is she? Even if she were, did she have the right to dictate their choices?

She needs a distraction. Bottled up frustration makes her almost forget about the loss.

"What's the name of the song?" she asks, after stopping to listen to the melody.

"Gather Day," the girl says. "I know this is a normal day, here, but it's as busy as a Gather. Um." She frowns. "I mean a fair?" she offers, after a moment.

"It's beautiful -- I think it suits today in a sense," Elaine remarks, even if she feels as if this is more Farewell Day. To others is different. "Are you a musician?"

The Next Roof Over; Dusk isitablurred September 13 2011, 21:51:55 UTC
The sirens are about to call; and Clark, more than anyone, perhaps, is aware of when the sun is about to go down. He noticed Elaine below when he passed over, and dropped down to the rooftop opposite the Lux's, waiting to be noticed rather than intruding on her peace.

If she wants to speak to him he'll be there, and if she makes it clear that she doesn't, he'll disappear rather than trouble her.

Elaine Belloc hasn't stayed on the same roof. Sometimes she has left her mind -- and corporeal manifestation -- wander into different points of the Port, but she certainly appears to have been just standing there for a long time. She's neither looking ahead to the Crown Head's Beach or above to the sky, she's not even glancing below the streets. She's staring right into the fading of Lucifer’s Name as she tries to maintain it without focusing too hard.

When she focuses too hard, well…

She can't keep her uncle from leaving, but she wishes to at least preserve the familiar echo lingering a little more with her. She ensures to complete the delicate task of anchoring the Name before turning to glance at Clark's direction. The sirens are minutes away.

"Hey Clark." She turns to greet him as if she has always known he was there. "It's getting dark. Do you want to come inside?"
