He saw him almost immediately- Jim raised a slight eyebrow at the initial appearance of Jason, again assessing him up and down with a quick glance. His clothes were nice, but his shoes were worn, overly so, and they weren't a particular brand. Plus, there was a slight bulge where the clothing tag was- obviously intending on returning it. Thus, not very rich. Thus, not entrenched enough in the criminal world to be rich. Thus either immoral or unskilled (the latter was much more likely- he needed to be directed).

In either case, he wasn't homosexual- Jim could tell this in an instant. And perhaps it was bad to judge a man's sexuality based on his presentation, but the fact of the matter was that he could. Everything from the way he presented himself to the way he sat in his chair, to the way he sipped at his coffee was very indicative of the mannerisms of... well, one who wasn't of that inclination. Having studied the ways that men of different sexualities presented themselves just to fool Sherlock Holmes, it- was rather ( ... )

When he spotted Jim, Jason noticed the low-slung jeans, the underwear, and the tight shirt and reminded himself that this was for a reason, that he couldn't just book it without getting some information. He wasn't afraid, but uncomfortable really, as the vigilante preferred wars that could be solved with guns and explosives rather than navigating a more tame but equally dangerous civillian environment. He could do it, sure, but his preference went first and foremost to the ability to use force to get what he needed. There was something almost unfortunate about the need to almost tease the information out of Jim instead of beating him to a pulp. But, now that he thought about it, that could be Plan B ( ... )

"A few months ago," he offers, sipping at his coffee. It was true enough- and Jim really didn't think it could link him back to Moriarty- he'd purposely distanced their entry posts so that their arrivals seemed completely separate. "I'm really glad I managed to get a good job and find a place to live. I was worried for a few days that I'd be homeless or something when the Darkness came."

Oblivious to Jason's more homicidal urges, he smiles politely and tilts his head. "What about you? Have you been here awhile?"

Jason leaned back in his chair a little bit so he could cross his legs and fingered the cardboard sheath around his coffee cup as he watched Jim. The concerns seemed mundane, boring, and those that most normal people indeed worried about.

"Couple months." A shrug. "But it's not too different from home, so it's not really feeling like only a couple months."

Both are relative truths, as Gotham is a big city similar to the Port, complete with its own set of 'monsters' that had a tendency to come out at night.

"Wow, really?"

He leans forward a little, interested. His body language was carefully positioned, showing his innocent attraction, as he rested his chin on his palm, watching Jason with a slight smile.

"That must have been dangerous for you."

Jason reads that body language and does his best to not feel uncomfortable. Sure, he doesn't have a problem leading anyone on, either gender, but this is a whole new territory; he's never really had anyone look at him like that before, as much as he pretends otherwise. Still, he offers a slim, comfortable smile in return as he sets his cup down on the table between them.

"You get used to after a while, Jim." Shrugging, the smile widening into something more confident, definitely not indicative of how he feels right now. "What about you? Where do you hail from?"

"London!" He squeaks, rubbing at the back of his neck. "It's a nice place, really."

Jim was aware of Jason's attempts at trying to lead him on- and what's more, he thought it was perhaps the funniest thing in the world, right then. It was obvious that he was making the younger man uncomfortable, and yet, he persisted. He must really want some sort of information- lovely. Jim was all too pleased to keep this charade going.

Jason raises curious eyebrows at that, despite not really having any interest. He's been to London, thrown bombs off the Westminster bridge, he'd rather not think about it, honestly. So, he reaches over to his cup of tea and takes a sip of it to fill a space when he's not sure how to continue the conversation.

"Were you a post worker there too?" Because that sounds so boring. Jason can't even imagine.

"I actually worked in a hospital."

He looks pleased that Jason is taking note of his life- it means he's interested, doesn't it? Jim takes another sip of his coffee, thoughtfully.

"Nothing medical, of course! I worked on their computers."

Jason shrugs at Jim's response, taking note of the fact that he works on computers. Secretary? IT? All of the above?

"Secretary?" Shooting for the less intimidating option first, trying to tease information out of the other man.

"Oh, nothing like that."

He smiles, a little flush lighting on his cheeks.

"I worked in the IT department."

Okay the flush on Jason's cheeks make him doubt further that he's in any way Moriarty. Geez, could the guy get more obvious? Still. There's a goal here, so Jason continues, "Like?"

Play dumb, get answers.
