[It probably would have been a small event if Maya hadn't been the one in charge of organizing it, but she was, so it's not.
Certainly it's nothing to match the parties that would have been held over at AGI if they'd prevailed. Indeed, it's nothing to match the parties that are no doubt being held right now, events featuring dozens of PR representatives trying desperately to spin the decision as an AGI victory. There are no grand champagne fountains, nor delicacies smuggled in from the mainland. There are no fire-breathers, nor any levitating acrobats. There are no slaves - though they say that there are no slaves at the AGI parties either, but only hired servants; apparently, the party planners had been afraid of riots, no matter the outcome of the trial. And there are no breathtaking decorations and luxuries.
Instead, there's just a law office decked with streamers and banners and filled with balloons and people. The food is minimal; other than some snacks and a few pizzas, anything there was brought by well-wishers. Likewise, only sodas were provided in terms of beverages, so any alcohol likewise was from a foreign source. There's no entertainment aside from the radio blaring top 40 hits - though admittedly, the radio does have a place to hook up an MP3 player for if any enterprising sort wants to play amateur DJ. People serve themselves.
But in spite of all these disadvantages, a party like this is far better than an AGI party. After all, this is a victory party. By tomorrow, slaves can start appealing their enslavement, and they have a good chance of getting freed. Even those who are still stuck as slaves will be treated better and have more power to determine what they will or will not do. And, down the road, maybe the system will be eliminated completely.
Besides...Even if they'd lost, this would have been a better party. It's filled with better people.]
