"Let's be honest, gang. How many of you doubted me? Hm? Show of hands? Anyone? C'mon. In a couple months, it'll be my one year anniversary in this little corner of Canada, and you all still doubt me. I mean, really. Lemme tell you, though- this one's gonna be one to tell the grandchildren. Joan?" He pulled his arm away from the illusion and saluted her, taking Jinx by the arm. "Rock their loafers off. I'll be in touch."
[OOC: Simultaneously open and for Jinx. You can catch him anywhere in the club.]

The moment they left the stage, her eyes lit right up with excitement. Gabriel had probably only seen her like this, well, after a big show at Felton. She grabbed both his hands, bend in her knees, and gave him a big, wry smile. "How'd I do?"

"Lucifer may be back in business, but we're still the hottest show this side of Toronto."

Really, she was about to say something in response to all that. You know, before his mouth silenced her. Now, both her legs were around him, and in that lingerie, it made Purgatory look like a much different kind of club.
"Don't make me ditch Joanie to drag you up to my dressing room." She tugged gently on his hair. "Mmm...remember the last time we had a party this big?"

"You trumped world domination, baby. My entire life's work, all my aspirations and dreams, and in the end? All I want is you." She pressed her lips together into a wry smirk. "I'm never going to hear the end of that, am I?"

He pulled back a little again, still keeping their fingers laced together and then grabbed two champagne flutes with his other hand with a sort of grace that seemed both theoretically impossible and ridiculous for someone of his particular mannerisms. "I think we've got a few more things to talk about tonight. More important things. Did I mention the outfit yet?"

"So, does it still count if the only thing I doubted was whether or not there'd be a karmically satisfying body count?" Of course he had faith in the troll angel's ability to deliver. What he lacked was faith in his own ability to not drool on himself every time the pod Joan looked at him.

Yes, he was being overly dramatic and yes, he was trying to frighten the ooglemeister. What could he say? He still owed Chuck for getting Jinx sick.

Come to think of it... She had been acting really strangely. Her appetite, her lack of sex drive that... One time...
Gabriel narrowed his eyes and leaned forward. "Well?" Beating around the bush when it came to his girl was not tolerated in this neighborhood.

Not that there was much choice. Gabriel had that Look in his eye that He couldn't remember having seen more than once or twice back in the younger days. Chuck took another deep breath and leaned heavily against the rag on the counter. Of all the angels for this to happen to- of course it was him.
By the time he looked up at Gabriel, his expression was sorry, almost contrite. Pained like giving bad news. "You're probably already figuring it out. I'm so sorry, Gabriel."

Fuck. Thousands of years and he'd been so careful about this, trying not to make a hypocrite out of himself for what he did on his Father's orders. Never mind the real dangers. Nephilim are dangerous out and in the womb. Jinx might well have a death sentence.
"She's not... I mean, she.. We..." He stammered for a second before thumping his head on the bar. "Jesus Arthur Christ," he growled through gritted teeth.

He'd even prepared for this. Thousands of years ago, when those destructive hybrids of angels and humans proved to be more powerful than the former and just as vindictive and power hungry as the latter, He knew exactly what He was doing in asking the baby archangel to brutally slaughter all the niece-and-nephew Nephilim. He always knew that Gabriel would be the one to leave Heaven, and even in those younger days He'd only wanted to ensure the best. Gabriel was never going to be perfect, but it was absolutely necessary to prevent him from ever making that kind of mistake, so the lesson had to be hard-taught and caution impressed on him through blood, lest he find himself someday forced to murder his own child ( ... )
