BEING THE EMCEE LIKE A BOSS painhumbles July 8 2011, 03:26:51 UTC
After the first set (which was fucking amazing, Gabriel walked upstage and threw an arm around the two lead singers- "Cherie" and Joan, who might as well be as good as the real thing, beyond the fact that the real Joan Jett would probably beat him for what he was doing- and just grinned at the audience. The incoming troll was strong with this one.

"Let's be honest, gang. How many of you doubted me? Hm? Show of hands? Anyone? C'mon. In a couple months, it'll be my one year anniversary in this little corner of Canada, and you all still doubt me. I mean, really. Lemme tell you, though- this one's gonna be one to tell the grandchildren. Joan?" He pulled his arm away from the illusion and saluted her, taking Jinx by the arm. "Rock their loafers off. I'll be in touch."

[OOC: Simultaneously open and for Jinx. You can catch him anywhere in the club.]

Jinx grinned from ear to ear. She was sweating from being up on stage and her hair was a tussled mess. Even though she was playing the part, she chose not to wear a wig tonight. As Gabriel spoke, she leaned over and kissed his cheek. It wasn't just a peck, either. Once her lips parted his skin, she smiled, closed her eyes, and rubbed her nose against his cheek. In her ridiculous shoes, they were even about the same height. Her arm was wrapped firmly back around him, not seeming to care too much about the affection she showed on stage.

The moment they left the stage, her eyes lit right up with excitement. Gabriel had probably only seen her like this, well, after a big show at Felton. She grabbed both his hands, bend in her knees, and gave him a big, wry smile. "How'd I do?"

Gabriel's response was to sweep her up in a dramatically intense kiss against the nearest wall, making sure to get his hands all over that costume in the process, very clearly having waited for this moment for the entire set. When he pulled away, panting, he just smirked. "I think Tokyo's having a flashback. Maybe you oughta make this a full time gig- but only if you wear the outfit the whole time. You kill in that little number." This was punctuated by another intense kiss that he pulled away from a little more quickly.

"Lucifer may be back in business, but we're still the hottest show this side of Toronto."

There was no way she was going to deny him that kiss, either. By the time he pulled away from that first, passionate make out session, one of her legs was wrapped around his waist. She was just so happy at that moment, biting her lip, grinning dumbly, proud. Damn right they were doing this right there in the club. It was theirs and they could do and had done everything they wanted all over every flat surface.

Really, she was about to say something in response to all that. You know, before his mouth silenced her. Now, both her legs were around him, and in that lingerie, it made Purgatory look like a much different kind of club.

"Don't make me ditch Joanie to drag you up to my dressing room." She tugged gently on his hair. "Mmm...remember the last time we had a party this big?"

"Were we ever that young?" Gabriel responded, wistfully, moving his hands to her waist and then down her arms so that he could clasp her hands in his. "This is the good life. Get me a mountain of cocaine and call me Scarface and I'll retire in a villa on the outskirts of town with my machine gun. And by machine gun, I mean you." He tapped her on the nose. He was deliriously happy and it showed. No fronting, not even a little. There was just something brilliant about her, this place, and the fact that he could manage to be good for something that was neither angel nor Trickster and simply Gabriel, as he is, not as he was or what he pretended to be.

That had to be one of the most romantic things anyone had ever told her. Seriously. It got her starry eyed and smiling like he was the only person in the room. Her nose crinkled with he tapped it. Funny how they could let their guard down so much in a room filled way past its legal capacity. Jinx slid her palm against his, then laced their fingers together. Her other hand came up to his chin and lightly grabbed it between her thumb and forefinger.

"You trumped world domination, baby. My entire life's work, all my aspirations and dreams, and in the end? All I want is you." She pressed her lips together into a wry smirk. "I'm never going to hear the end of that, am I?"

"Not tonight," he crooned, leaning forwards to kiss her on the lips lightly. "I plan on storing that up though. Y'know me- can't miss an opportunity. It'd be such a waste."

He pulled back a little again, still keeping their fingers laced together and then grabbed two champagne flutes with his other hand with a sort of grace that seemed both theoretically impossible and ridiculous for someone of his particular mannerisms. "I think we've got a few more things to talk about tonight. More important things. Did I mention the outfit yet?"

Some time later, Chuck was serving the boss up a nice, tall cocktail- the Diabetic, poured over a puff of cotton candy bigger than the angel's head and so sweet it could actually count as hazing if served to a human. He pushed the drink across the bar with a smile.

"So, does it still count if the only thing I doubted was whether or not there'd be a karmically satisfying body count?" Of course he had faith in the troll angel's ability to deliver. What he lacked was faith in his own ability to not drool on himself every time the pod Joan looked at him.

And Gabriel, insane person with the sugar tolerance of a horse, could choke that thing down with barely a wince. "The night's young, Chuckie," Gabriel said, leaning against the bar and gesturing with his glass, looking out towards the stage. "I'm just waiting for some idiot to try feeling up Joanie. That right cross could break a man's neck."

Yes, he was being overly dramatic and yes, he was trying to frighten the ooglemeister. What could he say? He still owed Chuck for getting Jinx sick.

"Yeah," Chuck agreed, more than wise to Gabriel and his shenanigans. "That'd be one stupid bastard to try groping her." He wasn't scared mostly because he'd never try it on even fake Joan.

Well, that went out the window. Gabriel turned to face Chuck fully, downing the remainder of the Diabetic and thumbing cotton candy residue off the side of his mouth. "Sooo any chance I'm gonna get the whole story about what happened during your girl's night out with Jinx? I swear I'm over plotting your demise. Honest."

"Honest? Come on." As if that was Gabriel's banner quality. But he shrugged a shoulder and turned his attention to wiping the counter, scrubbing sticky sugar from the bar. "We talked about stuff and she got a lot sicker than she should have from that much booze. And... I learned a valuable lesson about absinthe." Yikes. "I think I might even know why she horked half her guts, but. It kind of remains to be seen?"

He was a less of a liar than some people, so while not a banner quality, Gabriel sulked a little at the implication that he'd really kill Chuck over something as simple as... Whatever this was. Because it had to be simple, right? Jinx wasn't...

Come to think of it... She had been acting really strangely. Her appetite, her lack of sex drive that... One time...

Gabriel narrowed his eyes and leaned forward. "Well?" Beating around the bush when it came to his girl was not tolerated in this neighborhood.

Chuck sighed, realizing fairly quickly that nothing he could say would throw Gabriel off the scent. The original plan was to tell Jinx first, since it only made sense to him- it was her body, right? She had the right to know if nobody else. But Gabriel seemed to know her best, or at least he thought he did. So maybe it'd be okay this way, too.

Not that there was much choice. Gabriel had that Look in his eye that He couldn't remember having seen more than once or twice back in the younger days. Chuck took another deep breath and leaned heavily against the rag on the counter. Of all the angels for this to happen to- of course it was him.

By the time he looked up at Gabriel, his expression was sorry, almost contrite. Pained like giving bad news. "You're probably already figuring it out. I'm so sorry, Gabriel."

Gabriel might as well have reacted to Chuck telling him Jinx had cancer or something potentially life-threatening with the way his eyes went wide and he swallowed hard and kept shifting awkwardly on the barstool. He knew there was something off that night and it wasn't just Jinx's once in a blue moon menstruation.

Fuck. Thousands of years and he'd been so careful about this, trying not to make a hypocrite out of himself for what he did on his Father's orders. Never mind the real dangers. Nephilim are dangerous out and in the womb. Jinx might well have a death sentence.

"She's not... I mean, she.. We..." He stammered for a second before thumping his head on the bar. "Jesus Arthur Christ," he growled through gritted teeth.

"I didn't want to say anything until I was absolutely 100% sure," he said in a rush, a little choked out by how uniquely terrible it was to have to tell this to him, of all people. Of all the angels.

He'd even prepared for this. Thousands of years ago, when those destructive hybrids of angels and humans proved to be more powerful than the former and just as vindictive and power hungry as the latter, He knew exactly what He was doing in asking the baby archangel to brutally slaughter all the niece-and-nephew Nephilim. He always knew that Gabriel would be the one to leave Heaven, and even in those younger days He'd only wanted to ensure the best. Gabriel was never going to be perfect, but it was absolutely necessary to prevent him from ever making that kind of mistake, so the lesson had to be hard-taught and caution impressed on him through blood, lest he find himself someday forced to murder his own child ( ... )
