Where: Tenma's place.
Summary: So, she blew up the house and worried her friends. She's going to see one who makes her smile.
Warnings: Derpiness. No, really. From Jubes too. Maybe some swearing, but nothing too potent.

It was one of those days where Tenma was actually home at a decent hour; no surgical emergencies, no clinic emergencies, no AGI emergencies. One of those days were he could probably get a few decent hours of sleep tonight, and that was something he actually looked forward to.

What he didn't expect was Jubilee in front of his door with some food.

"Sure," He said with a smile, reaching down to help her up. "how long have you been waiting here?"

She took his hand and rolled to her feet. "Not that long. Maybe half an hour?" She shrugged. "It wasn't too bad."

Jubilee looked at him and could read body language like a pro. "Long day?"

"Well, I'm glad it wasn't a long wait," He said, getting his keys out of his pocket. "No, just a regular one. It's been more of a long week then a long day."

He pulled the keys out, unlocking his door and opening it, ushering her to go inside.

"Here we are. You can set that stuff down on the table... what did you bring?"

"Long week. Yeah, I can see that." Her own week had been beyond long, and she just hoped it stopped sometime soon. However, she was an X-Man and she knew better. It was just one of those weeks that she had to keep going through and hope it ended at some point.

She set the bags and the drinks on the table. "Nothing fancy. Barbecue bacon cheeseburgers, curly fries, those deep fried cherry and apple pies." A weak smile. "Jubilee comfort food." Then she held up the other bag. "Sushi sampler too, just because I was feeling fancy."

He took off his coat, setting it on the back of the chair as he leaned over, smelling the food. It smelled great, though he looked at her a little skeptically.

"I didn't know pies could be deep fried. But I haven't had sushi in ages," He smiled at her, trying to encourage her smile to become bigger like his was. "How are you feeling?"

She slid into a seat and rested her chin on her hand. "It's an American staple of fast food." she shrugged. "I used to live on them."

Her smile's still weak but it's genuine, at least.

"I'm doing okay. My powers are back at least." She held up her sparking fingers. "And no one got hurt. I can't complain." she reached for one of the drinks. "What about you?"

"I guess I still have a lot to learn about fast food," Tenma smiled, going to the cupboard to get some plates.

"That's good! That means things are starting to get back to normal, right?" He asked her, putting a plate next to her and taking his own seat. "I can't complain. There are a lot of kids coming in for camp physicals, it's been really easy work lately."

She distributed the food. Yes, she took four of those burgers for herself (he got two), but gave him the entire sushi platter. "I wouldn't say normal, but... I feel a lot better not being burnt out. Sometimes, one of a mutant's greatest fears is being bereft of powers."

It was certainly one of hers. They'd become such a part of herself she didn't know what she'd do without them.

She smiles a bit and hands him the bags. "That sounds like it'd almost be boring compared to what it could be."

He can't help but watch that; she was tiny, but she could certainly eat. He didn't know anyone else who could do that. Eva had always eaten like a bird, and Nina... well, when she was hungry, sure, but it wasn't the same, really.

"I guess it would be scary, if they're something you're used to. Anything that puts you out of your comfort zone can be scary," He nodded, opening the bag and pulling out a burger with a small smile.

"Ah... no. I think I prefer boring. It gives me time to relax, which is nice."

And she's going to start eating too. She has some manners, but she's hungry. "I once heard it said that it's like having your entire intellect stuffed away so that you can't use it, but know it's there." She shrugged. "The guy who said that was a genius, so I can see how it's like that for him."

She smiled a bit. "You don't seem to be the 'relaxing' type, Doc." A cock of her head to the side. "What do you do to relax?"

He took a bite of the burger and made a satisfied noise. It was pretty good. He nodded to what she said; he was too busy chewing to say anything for a moment, but he could agree with what she said. It made sense. It wasn't something he could understand fully, since he wasn't a genius by any means. But maybe it was like when he had to learn how to shoot a gun. It was unnatural.

He swallowed and grinned. "I uh...I read?"

"Like what? Shakespeare, comics? I mean, I can get behind some Poe, or even some Hawthorne, but I generally get lost at the Tolstoy and the Tolkien."

Jubilee can, and does, eat. Yet, somehow, she keeps perfect manners when speaking. Years of practice.

"Medical books, sometimes. If there's anything floating around in the break room, I'll take some time to read those," Tenma shrugged, finishing off his burger with relish. He didn't even want to think of the state the food in his fridge might be in, and this was much better anyway.

"You should try something that isn't job related for a while." Jubilee couldn't help but tease. She did the same thing with everyone else. Plus, it was normal and although she was getting there, she really needed to press her way back. Now that her powers were working again, that time was now.

"But I know better than to force docs away from their entertainment..." A smirk. An actual smirk!

"Maybe. I wouldn't know where to begin, have you seen the library here? Where do you even start?" Tenma laughed, taking another bite of his new burger.

"I wouldn't mind trying something new," He said after he swallowed.

"Not medical dramas." Jubilee shuddered. Hank had always been so irate about how badly the medical procedures were done. It was the same thing and Warren and Law and Order.

"Well, tell me what you might like to read about. Unicorns and talking animals? We have a few of those by the way. What about military operations?" Broad spectrum but at least he couldn't yell about the medicine in them.
