"Bit chilly, isn't it?"

Here's the thing: Alois will always be able to find Ciel. He's sure of this - he's made sure of this. He will check everywhere- every room, every box, every hopeless place, and he will find Ciel Phantomhive.

Once again, the other boy's taking refuge in the atmosphere of his mother. Alois stands yards behind him, trying not to breathe too quickly, and his eyes are red-rimmed. (So are his hands, and the sleeves of his shirt, in fact. That's blood, there.)

The temperature doesn't register with him.

"I don't mind it." It's a soft, monotonous reply. Ciel doesn't turn, his back against the tree, fingers wrapped around his knees. It's a similar position, one he took when they were caged by the cult. He's trying to make himself small; unseen.

He wants to disappear.

"Come with me somewhere else."

It's very much a demand, but his throat feels thick.

"Where?" The voice is still just as dull as it had been a moment ago, still holding up his resolve to not look back. He's not sure where to fit Alois at the moment, into the grand scheme of things, whether or not the boy is his past or future. It's as if he's surrounded by a fog, trapped on an island - which way is the right direction? Is there even a path to follow?

Maybe there was, but it had already been erased.

It makes him angry- that where. It makes him angry, that later on, Claude will need to clean blood out from underneath his master's fingernails. If not for Alois' too-high adrenaline, it would have been done already, but the fury was a little too overbearing for that sort of patience. "Here," he says evenly. Come here, Ciel; that's what he wants.

"I don't feel like standing right now." Moving? No. He doesn't want to. He doesn't want to go anywhere right now. All he wants to do is sit and stare at the dirt below him. It's all he wants right now.

He's just as dirty as the dirt beneath his shoes, after all. Why not become it completely? Maybe he would, if he sat there long enough.

Headstones make Alois think a little too much. He wants to move nearer and he wants to run away. "Then lean on me."

"I can't if you're not here." Using his own words against him - of course Ciel wouldn't be above it.

"I'm not here, am I? I'm not standing right here, is that what you think? Pretty fucking funny, Ciel, because I'm almost certain I came to you rather than running in the other direction."

Seething is soothing.

"I wanted to get you them."

"To get me-"

His sprig of bluebells has since been set away, but his coat smells of them, to a degree.

"Bluebells." He finishes for him, keeping his eyes still focused on the ground. "I wanted to get you some. Because of what they represent." Everlasting love is what they symbolize, amongst a few other pleasant things. 'I got them for you.' He'd have said, 'I'll ask Undertaker to bury us with them.'

It had been a stupid, idiotic idea.

It wasn't just about the flowers, however; it was simply everything at once.

He's still furious. He's also very in love. It makes his heart hurt, and his hands flex, but that reminds him that his fingers are still somewhat sticky, thanks to the blood.

"So it was a tantrum, then."

"I don't care what you want to call it." A swing then, a furious burning in his chest. A tantrum. Was that all? No, it was far more than that.

"It wasn't just a tantrum." It was a murder attempt - a vicarious one. Ciel knew well enough a bullet wouldn't end Claude Faustus. Shooting him had just made him feel, well, slightly better, if only for a split second.

"So, destruction of property?"

This is too thin a line Alois is treading, and right now he doesn't care.

That actually gets a laugh out of the boy as he sets his head back against the trunk of the tree. It's an eerie, broken sound, only made worse by the setting of their meeting. "No, that's better accomplished with a flame."

Fire could eat up so much; so quickly too.
