I'm like a bullet through a flock of doves

Apr 22, 2011 03:34

Who: tom_hanniger   and cagedbirdruns
When: early on the 22nd.
Where: A SERO meeting room at the prison.
Summary: We're here to offer you a deal. You might want to take it. No need to read the fine print. SERO is always there for those in its employ.
Warnings: Cursing. Talks of murder and unpleasantness. There are shady deals going on here. Also Daphne's going to say unkind things about his mental state I am sure.

[Daphne's been increasingly on edge as things have gotten steadily…slower and made her want to twitch out of her skin. Normally everything was just slow, but now it was like everything was running halftime. Not cool, Core. Not cool. But as one of the few people on the recruiting roster who hasn't been utterly debilitated by the great core fuckup of 2011, she's stuck at work.

And work, today, is visiting a convict. Joy of freaking joys.

She flashed her ID in all the right places, and got herself let in without much trouble, there was a nice little room for her to wait in to talk to the guy too.

There was a heavy metal table, and a chair on either side of it, but other than that, it was pretty blank. Really boring. Bland. Dull. And there was absolutely nothing to look at. Unless you wanted to count ceiling tiles. She was jittery and time was moving a snails pace, but she wasn't that desperate.

About ten minutes in, she'd counted the tiles twice, and had dragged out the file on this Tom Hanniger to read, yet again. As if she hadn't read it already, more than once, since she'd been handed it this morning.

When the door finally opens, she's leaning against the table, reading, the file folded open in one hand, and her fingers drumming fast enough to blur on the edge of the table.]
